An anime series called Gleipnir debuted last year and went on to succeed spectacularly. With a thrilling season finale that left viewers begging for more, Gleipnir Season 2 has become a fan favorite.
The creators have already hinted at it on multiple occasions, but there has been no official announcement. So, is there going to be a sequel to this film? To learn more, continue reading.
Gleipnir is a well-known psychological-thriller action manga that follows a group of teenagers (primarily) with special abilities. On April 5, 2020, Tokyo MX will begin airing an original 13-episode television anime series based on the story written by Sun Takeda and produced by Studio Pine Jam.
This licensed English sub-release by Funimation helped to increase the manga’s popularity in the west, resulting in the localization of manga in countries like France, the United States, and Spain, to name a few.
Will there be a second season of Gleipnir?
Studio Pine Jam, publisher Kodansha, or any other member of the production team has not yet renewed the anime for a second season at this writing.
As of June 28, 2020, the anime’s first season she had concluded. Since then, many shows have been revived for a second season.
These anime do not include Gleipnir.
Given the first season of Gleipnir’s publication date, it is too early to approve a new season. At this time, there is little official information about a second season, but speculation can be sparked based on three factors:
Is there enough content for the second season of Gleipnir?
Today, most anime that we watch has been adapted from previously published works, such as manga, light novels, video games, and the like.
Manga serves as the inspiration for Gleipnir’s design. As a result, we’ll have to see how many volumes are currently available, how many have been adapted in the previous season, and whether or not the series is still active.
The Sun Takeda original manga in the 3rd issue of Kodansha’s Young Magazine is still being written and drawn. It began serialization in 2015 and has since produced ten volumes. Volume 4 of the manga was covered in the first season, leaving six books to be used.
There are currently six volumes available for adaptation, which means there is enough material for a second season. In addition, because the series is still active, there’s a good potential for a sequel.
Market Share and Attractiveness
Here, we’ll evaluate if the anime was financially profitable for the production committee or if the production costs were just not covered by the revenue it brought in. We’ll do this by looking at the sales of its Blu-ray discs, DVDs, and manga.
Before you go any further, you should know that the vast majority of anime produced nowadays is done to help promote and increase the sales of the original work (in this case, manga).
Their primary source of income comes from the sales of the light novel and related items, with advertising fees, internet streaming licensing, and Blu-ray sales serving as supplements.
The average cost to make a 12-episode anime television series is $3,000,000.
Gleipnir now has 500,000 copies in circulation, according to the latest available data. In addition, Oricon’s Top 500 Selling Manga chart shows that sales have risen significantly since the anime debuted.
Manga that sells 100,000-400,000 copies on average is deemed successful. Therefore this manga is selling more than average, enhancing our chances of seeing a second season.
