‘The Wedding of My Mother’: Synopsis, Release Date & Cast Details

My Mother’s Wedding, Kristin Scott Thomas’s directorial debut, has finished up main photography, and the team behind it has released a first-look image. Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Thomas Jane will appear as mother and daughter in the film for the third time.
Johansson portrays one of Diana Frost’s three kids, and Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal) and Emily Beecham (Little Joe) will portray her sisters. There are three sisters who have achieved success in their various fields: Georgina, Victoria, and Katherine. Their mother’s wedding is taking place in their childhood home and includes some surprise visitors. The family’s history and future are brought back into focus when old memories are reignited.

She and John Micklethwait collaborated on the writing, which is based on Thomas’ childhood experiences. Rather than eating, the three sisters’ gazes are riveted on something or someone that isn’t depicted in the first photograph. In addition, it appears like the three sisters are conversing and studying whatever it is that has them so fascinated. That’s all we know about the movie at this point. With My Mother’s Wedding as her launching pad, Thomas, best known for her appearances in Four Weddings & a Funeral (1994) and The English Patient (1996), plans to pursue a career in filmmaking in 2017. “I had wanted to direct for a long time and it was amazing to build this fictional family using my own childhood experiences as a springboard,” she said in an interview with Deadline.

Reuniting with Scarlett Johansson, she added, “has been exciting,” when asked about the experience of directing and starring alongside such accomplished actors. The Horse Whisperer and The Other Boelyn Girl were the first two films in which Johansson and Thomas had a mother-daughter role. Prior to The Sea Change, Thomas and Johansson were hoping to take their working relationship to the next level with Thomas directing his directorial debut. Although Elizabeth Jane Howard’s novel of the same name was adapted into a film, it was never released in theatres. With Freida Pinto, Sindhu Vee, Joshua McGuire, Mark Stanley, Thibault de Montalembert, and Samson Kayo as supporting cast members, My Mother’s Wedding is a star-studded affair (The Bubble). Produced by Finola Dwyer and Steven Rales, with Yves Belanger serving as director of photography, Yves Belanger provided direction.
Right now, there’s no word on when My Mother’s Wedding will be available.
