A new poster for Weird: The Al Yankovic Story has been unveiled on the Roku Channel. Daniel Radcliffe, dressed in red jeans and a blazer, holds an accordion as he stands in front of the Hollywood sign as the aforementioned artist. In this biographical comedy, Radcliffe takes on the role of Weird Al Yankovic as he dons his trademark curly hair and moustache. The movie would depict Al Yankovic’s “excessive lifestyle” and ascent to popularity through songs like “Eat It” and “Like a Surgeon” as “the unexaggerated factual narrative.” Eric Appel, who directed and co-wrote the film’s script, is widely recognised for his hilarious songs and parodies.
Evan Rachel Wood plays Madonna; Quinta Brunson portrays Oprah Winfrey; Toby Huss and Julianne Nicholson play Yankovic’s parents; Rainn Wilson plays radio host Dr Demento, and Toby Huss plays Yankovic. Yankovic is the best-selling comedian of all time and a five-time Grammy winner. ‘Mandatory Fun became the first comedy album to appear at the top of Billboard’s Top 200 list of 2014, as it debuted at No. 1. Paul Rudd initially watched Radcliffe perform Tom Lehrer’s The Elements, which covers the complete periodic table of elements, on the Graham Norton Show, which led to his being cast as the movie’s protagonist.
Fallon was assured by Radcliffe that he was right. In front of Colin Farrell and a puzzled Rihanna, I sang ‘The Elements’. Al must have noticed that and thought, ‘This person could understand.’ That’s why he chose me. That makes me a really fortunate person, and now I get to study accordion with Al.” Additionally, Mike Farah and Joe Farrell worked with Yankovic and the rest of the cast and crew to bring the film to life. Al Yankovic’s Story will be available on Roku on November 4th.
Summary of the film’s plot
“Weird” Al Yankovic is played by Daniel Radcliffe in the unabridged real tale of our generation’s greatest musician. Al defied his traditional background, in which playing the accordion was considered a sin, and achieved his lifelong ambition of rewriting the lyrics to well-known tunes. Excessive partying and a sex-crazed infatuation almost bring Al to the brink of a breakdown. Agents for Evan Rachel Wood and Rainn Wilson, as well as a slew of other A-list actors, won’t allow us to publish the title of the film.
