[New] Read Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Storyline, Spoilers, Expectations & Release Date
What parts of Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen’s plot would work best for an adaptation?
The Death Painting Arc, which spanned chapters 55-64 of this manga, marked the end of the show’s first season. Next up, assuming the anime follows the manga’s release schedule, is Gojo’s Past Arc, which spans chapters 65-79. That’s about a mission Gojo and Geto did in the past, protecting a Star Plasma Vessel on its way to Tengen, and, you got it, Gojo’s history. If that’s the case, then Season 2 may be a hodgepodge of Gojo’s history, intercut with a huge next storyline involving the Shibuya Incident (chapters 79-136). The entire plot of the Shibuya Incident Arc is about Gojo and his new cursed alliance sealing away Goto.
That looks like the most likely outcome, given it has enough story for the second season of 25 episodes. The conclusion of the first season might be a clue as well. With Eso and Kechizu vanquished, Yuji and Nobara reunite with Megumi. Instead, Sukuna swallows the finger (thanks to an anime-style mouth in Yuji’s palm) and takes a little but significant step toward restoring his strength. As the third member of the Cursed Womb triplet, Choso has joined forces with established series antagonists Geto and Mahito, Season 3 will presumably deal with both that growing evil and Choso’s presence.
There’s also the fact that there’s a mole at Jujutsu High, and that one instructor, Utahime, is very much on the lookout for the treacherous sorcerer. That will be a plot point in the upcoming season as well. Gojo recommends Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara (together with Maki and Panda) for promotion to Grade 1 Sorcerers, and the group then embarks on a new mission together at the end of Season 2.
The Second Season of Jujutsu Kaisen: The Plot Outline
Both of the storylines from the season one finale will be continued in season two. Gojo’s Past (chapters 65-79) and the Shibuya Incident (chapters 79-136) are two story arcs that will resolve some of Season 1’s most pressing issues for Jujutsu Kaisen. In the first arc, Gojo and Geto engage on a mission that will alter their perspectives on Jujutsu culture, and the story delves further into Gojo’s background. In the second, Geto uses curses to try to imprison Gojo in the Prison Realm. If Studio Mappa does a good job adapting these two arcs, Jujutsu Kaisen might be a strong contender for the best anime of 2023.
Characters from Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen
There has been no formal announcement on the return of the original voice cast for Season 2, however, it is widely expected that all or almost all of the performers will be back. All of the key returning characters from the first season who survived the events of the Shibuya Incident will play significant roles in the second season. Unfortunately, we still don’t know who will be voicing returning favourites like Toji Fushiguro or any of the other new characters that will be in the season. Studio Mappa, who previously created the anime, is returning to work on the second season.
Specifics of the Plot
The “Gojo’s Past” storyline will be adapted for the first half of the upcoming season. In it, we meet Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto as they were in 2006. The second season will pick up with Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kubasaki in the current day, after the “Gojo’s Past” storyline. Next, the “Shibuya Incident” storyline will be adapted for the season. The “Kaigyoku” storyline is scheduled to be adapted in the future season as well. It’s safe to assume that Season 2 will be just as action-packed as Akumi’s manga.
New Updates for Season 2
With the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen coming out later this year and the manga being in its penultimate arc, it would appear that all eyes are on creator and artist Gege Akutami’s series. The continuation of both the anime and manga series is eagerly anticipated by the fanbase. Nonetheless, the presence of voice actor Takahiro Sakurai at the debut of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is an unwelcome elephant in the room. Fans are wondering if they will hear Sakurai return to his role as Geto in the forthcoming second season, given that he has been recast in multiple other anime productions in the wake of a previously known marriage scandal.
During Anime Japan 2023, the release date for Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 was announced, and since then, anticipation for the new season has reached a feverish pitch. Sakurai will reprise his role as Geto, although this will most likely be his final performance in the role. Because of this, Takahiro Sakurai, who voices Suguru Geto, has received unwanted attention for his adulterous affairs. In October 2022, it was reported that Sakurai’s P.S. broadcast writer had been his mistress for the previous decade. The Takahiro radio programme, Genki Desu. On October 24, 2022, the show’s production was abruptly suspended, and two days later, the news magazine Shukan Bunshun broke their article on the situation.
According to Japanese reports, Sakurai led the programme writer to believe that the two were engaged to be married. Similarly, it wasn’t until September of 2022 that the author learned Sakurai was married. That is to say, Sakurai’s extramarital affair occurred without one of his partners being aware of the other. In the months that followed, Sakurai was replaced in some anime roles, including the lead character of Haruaki Kurama in the original TV adaptation of AYAKA. Also, from Fall 2022 through Winter 2023, he skipped conventions. This includes the manga’s publisher, Shueisha, which was conspicuously absent from the Jujutsu Kaisen Super Stage at Jump Festa ’23. It appears that by the time the news surfaced, the team adapting Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 had already exhausted their options. It was too late to cast a different actor to voice Suguru Geto in the impending second season, as he was intended to play a pivotal role in the show. But, beyond this season, Sakurai has very little guarantee of continued employment.
Conclusion
There has been no confirmation either way, but it appears like Sakurai will reprise his role as Suguru Geto for the upcoming second season of Jujutsu Kaisen. This is probably because it would have been impossible to recast Sakurai at this point in the season’s production. Nevertheless, when the second season airs, it is commonly suspected, though not yet verified, that Sakurai will be replaced in the position.
About Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen, a popular Japanese anime series, is returning for a second season. Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is scheduled to air in 2023. Although the specific air date has not been revealed, the release was confirmed during a Japanese event (H/T Crunchyroll). The possible release windows for 2023 include winter (beginning in January 2023), spring (beginning in April 2023), and fall (starting October 2023). However, a release in the fall of 2023 is most plausible. Anime fans may now feast their eyes on the series’ main images. The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will centre on manga characters Satoru Gojo, Shoko Ieiri, and Geto Suguru. The next season will adapt the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” and “Shibuya Incident” arcs and will air for two cours (quarters) for a continuous half-year run. Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen concluded after the Death Painting Arc (chapters 55-64) in the manga.
The history of people like Gojo, Natsuyu, and others is shown in the manga and anime Kaiyoku Gyoku Ori. Gojo’s Past is an arc that begins before the end of Season 1. Gojo will be seen attending Jujutsu High School during this period. Chapters 65–79 of the manga will be included in this arc. According to Games Radar’s speculation, the plot would likely include Gojo and Geto’s task to accompany a Star Plasma Vessel to Tengen. Jujutsu Kaisen author Gege Akutami’s sixth arc, titled “The Shibuya Incident Arc,” spans chapters 79 to 136. It’s a direct sequel to the entirety of the Shibuya Incident that took place on October 31, 2018. As expected, Mahito and Pseudo-union Getos of afflicted spirits and curse users move forward with their plan to seal Satoru Gojo. The main character Yuta Okkotsu’s narrative begins a year before Yuji Itadori’s period.
Although we haven’t seen Yuta in the first season, he has been the subject of several references by other characters discussing events from earlier in the series. Yuta was sent to Jujutsu High by Satoru Gojo after being cursed by his childhood buddy Rika. Since she is of the Special Grade, this is no ordinary curse. And Yuta is at a loss to manage and make use of her formidable might. Meanwhile, Suguru Geto is on a mission to eliminate Yuta Okkotsu, and he has set his sights on Rika to add to the legion of cursed spirits under his command, which will force him to face up against his former best friend and now mortal adversary, Gojo Satoru. Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
