Review of Episode 2 of Season 2 of Tokyo Revengers
In this episode, Takemichi encounters a future version of Shiba Hakkai, one of Toman’s top dogs. In the original chronology, he was presented to us as a violent, obnoxious, and anti-Toman bigot. We also find out that, once Black Dragon united with Toman, he left that gang and joined Mikey’s crew. Kazutora also tells us that Hakkai has no qualms about killing for money since he did so when he overthrew the former head of Black Dragon. When Takemichi first encounters him in a bowling alley, he is, to put it mildly, confused and sceptical.
Despite this, he and Takemichi become friendly rivals when Takemichi challenges him to games of bowling, pool, and whack-a-mole. But it turns out that Hinata’s older sister Yuzuha is also there with them. Hakkai Shiba and Takemichi become fast friends as a result of the competition. Hakkai is now the second-in-command of Mitsuya’s Toman division. In Hakkai’s eyes, Mitsuya fills the role of an elder brother, and the regard that Hakkai has for him is mutual.
This episode exposes a great deal about Shiba Hakkai’s nature. He’s developed into a likeable guy who has a lot of respect for his commander, but he’s also a socially awkward guy who gets nervous whenever any lady other than his sister comes near him. Because of this, it’s puzzling how he could have evolved into the person he eventually became. As the anime concludes, we learn that he is linked to the Shiba brothers and the current member of Black Dragon.
