Boruto 283 looks to be the episode when Sakura is first presented. Rather than aimlessly exploring Tartar for relics left by the Sage of Six Paths, she will provide news from Kakashi and steer Sasuke towards a definite objective. There’s no way to understate Sakura’s significance in this arc, as she goes from messenger to key holder to major breakthrough creator.
A short review of the events in the last episode
Sasuke’s experience at Redaku was revisited at the start of Boruto episode 282, titled Sasuke Retsuden: Infiltration when he recalled it while searching for Kara’s victims. After the death of its monarch and the subsequent famine, the kingdom of Redaku is shown as being in disorder. Meanwhile, it’s clear that the Prime Minister is now in charge. In this episode, after learning that Naruto was suffering from the same illness as the Sage of Six Paths, Sasuke decided to travel to the Tartar Observatory, where Hagoromo’s records may still be stored.
Since Tartar is now a jail where convicts are made to build a huge telescope, Sasuke had to infiltrate the planet undercover as a prisoner. Soon after, he found out about Meno, a dragon-beast who is both curious and fiercely hostile, and his master, Zansul, the Director of the Observatory, on whom genjutsu has no effect since his eyes are made of glass. The source material is interesting, and the manga adaptation will likely be a huge success if it follows the artist’s lead. However, judging on the pilot episode, the arc moves at too rapid a clip, and important elements have been left out of the adaptation.
