During the most recent Jump Festa ’23 event, the premiere date for the second season of the critically acclaimed anime Jujutsu Kaisen was disclosed. A newly released character introduction video that was shown during the event reveals that the second season will start broadcasting in Japan in July of 2023.
At the time this article was written, additional information such as the number of episodes had not yet been disclosed; however, the trailer did show that MBS, TBS, and 28 associated networks will be broadcasting the anime series.
As the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen adapts the ‘Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu’ and the ‘Shibuya Incident’ arcs from the manga, it is anticipated that it would air over the course of a period of half a year. Following the completion of Jujutsu Kaisen season 1 in March, the movie adaptation of the series prequel, titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0, was released in theatres all around Japan in December of the previous year.
The film, which is an adaptation of a prequel manga that was published in 2021 and consisted of four chapters, includes, among other fan-favourite characters, Gojou Satoru, Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and Panda. Jujutsu Kaisen was initially published as a serial in Weekly Shnen Jump by Shueisha in March of 2018. The series has since been collected into 21 tankobon volumes and has been shortlisted for the 25th annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, which is awarded to manga creators.
It has also been turned into a smartphone game that will be titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade and is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2023. The titles of the books that were inspired by the series are Jujutsu Kaisen: Iku Natsu to Kaeru Aki and Jujutsu Kaisen: Yoake no Ibara Michi.
