The 280th episode of Boruto introduces a significant new twist to the story
In the opening moments of episode 280 of Boruto, Boruto finally confronts Kiseru. He was curious as to what had led up to the deaths of Batta and Fugou. Kiseru did not respond, and he ran away. Rokuro, Shamo, Yatsume, and Namua, back in the common area, are determined to aid the blonde and learn the truth for themselves. Namua held the doors open, persuaded the others to continue, and eventually died from his wounds as the gates closed. Together, the four of them encircled Kiseru and questioned him about his relationship with Ouga, helping Boruto in the process. When he received no response, he once more utilised his jutsu to break through the ground and lead his captives into a hidden cavern. Then, in episode 280 of Boruto, we got our first taste of the show’s action, which came in the form of a fierce battle. Kiseru successfully separated them, taking advantage of the numerical advantage, and struck Rokuro in the damaged abdomen, killing him instantly.
Four masked shinobi confronted Sarada, Kawaki, and Mitsuki as they returned to the trap location they had previously set at the Leaf. Kiseru shifted his focus back to the maze and aimed for Yatsume and Shamo. Yatsume tried to strike back with her lightning technique, but it was no match for him. Shamo stepped in to help, and his jutsu created enough space to force Kiseru back, where he appeared to have dropped a scroll. Once Sarada returned to the Leaf’s side, she attempted an assault on the masked shinobi, but they were too skilful for her. The masked ninja decided to surrender, revealing that they were actually shinobi from the Investigation Team of the Five Great Nations. They were trying to figure out what was going on with all the inexplicable disappearances. Kiseru, it was revealed in Boruto Episode 280, was also a member of this squad and had been dispatched to Kara as an undercover spy. He had vanished, like so many others before him, and the disappearances were probably orchestrated by the last remaining member of the Kara.
Shamo discovered the truth from the dropped scroll by Kiseru and raced to break up the confrontation between Boruto and Kiseru. Kiseru, overwhelmed by the mission’s demands and his sadness over his friend’s death, snapped and attacked Boruto. They began trading blows until Shamo stepped in the middle and blocked Kiseru’s punch. Upon regaining his faculties, Kiseru stabbed Boruto. He told the blonde that the maze was a genjutsu just before he passed out. When he did, he freed him. The shocking conclusion of Boruto episode 280 occurred at that point. When Boruto awakened, he was in a room with the other people who had participated in the Maze. They were all lying in what looked like pods. Some viewers of Boruto Episode 280 were shocked by a significant development in the story.
In their wildest imaginations, fans never expected such a dramatic turn of events. At first, Kiseru was thought to be a part of the Kara and to be collaborating with Ouga. Everything was going as planned until the Investigation Team from the Five Great Nations arrived, comprised of shinobi. Kiseru entered the Maze while pretending to be a Kara Outer.
In addition, he found a technique to release Boruto from the Genjutsu, bringing him back to reality. A twist of this magnitude drastically alters the narrative. Thanks to Boruto’s awakening and the Team’s cooperation with the shinobi of the Investigation Team from the Five Great Nations, they may still discover the passengers. The blonde still had to figure out where he was and why he was being held captive.
Episode 280 of Boruto: So, What Do We Have to Look Forward to?
It has been said that “Breakthrough” will be the title of Boruto Episode 280.
After the events of the last episode, the next one will most likely see Boruto fighting Kiseru. Even if most of the fans think Kiseru is the traitor, some still have doubts about Yatsume.
Further, the event may explain why Outer of the Kara was on that train.
A Brief Recap of Episode 279 of Boruto
Boruto’s 279th episode is called “The Seventh Impasse.” Outer of the Kara, not Ouga, was the traitor’s true allegiance, as shown in the previous episode. Meanwhile, it is currently unknown why the gang was riding the Thunder Train at that particular moment. Also, the episode was the catalyst for the subsequent game, which was titled “Sum.” As the game progressed, Rokuro snapped and launched an attack against Boruto, Shamo, Yatsume, and Namua. Fan favourites Batta and Fugou both met untimely ends in this episode. On his way back to the Leaf following his research, Mitsuki was caught in a trap set by Sarada and Kawaki. In addition to Mitsuki, Kawaki purposefully ensnared himself in the trap. Not long later, though, he utilised his Jutsu to disarm the trap and release both Mitsuki and himself. He also thought that another party was curious about the fate of the vanished Thunder Train’s passengers.
In all likelihood, Boruto’s plight in the game of life and death will not end with Episode 280. Fans also believe he will face up against Kara’s Outer in the next episode.

About the 280th Episode
Release of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 280 is scheduled for the following week, continuing the story arc in which everyone’s survival instincts are put to the test; once again, Boruto is put in an ideal scenario. Fans are on board with watching new episodes of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations every week, regardless of the content, because the show keeps displaying fresh animation arcs. In contrast to the last arc, in which Kawaki posed as a kid in order to carry out a covert operation, the present one is far more interesting.
Kawaki prevented the assassination of Kae, a prominent figure from a different country, in a plot whose progression made it clear that the instructor was the principal assassin. On the other hand, that certainly isn’t true in the present arc, because things are getting really exciting. The story’s trajectory was anticipated at some point, but thus far it’s surpassed my expectations and even surprised me. Recent revelations included Kiseru’s double life as a traitor assisting Ouga. I assumed it was Yatsume, of all people. As the most recent episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations came to a close, our protagonist had made the difficult decision to take on Kiseru all by himself with only ten minutes remaining until he needed to collect seven points. It appears from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 280 that the climax of this arc is rapidly approaching.

Previewing and Anticipating Boruto, Episode 280 of Naruto: Next Generations
Previewing the next episode 280 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, titled “Breakthrough,” the video shows Boruto approaching Kiseru and questioning if he is really working with Ouga. The teaser does not show whether or not the latter is a traitor; instead, it prolongs their chat by implying that Rikuro lied to him about it. The preview also features masked Shinobi from beyond the present testing sites, although Team 7 is conspicuously absent. It would be pointless if progress outside the present place didn’t affect the arc, so let’s hope it does. In Episode 280 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the ongoing storyline is expected to be expanded upon, and a confrontation between Boruto and Kiseru is not out of the question.
If the latter is indeed collaborating with Ouga, then the motivation for this partnership should be revealed in the next episode. Nonetheless, I continue to believe that Yatsume is the traitor and that Ouga is the one he is helping. At this point, I wouldn’t be shocked if Shaumon turned out to be the betrayer. We’ve reached a point in this story when everything is possible.
This week’s episode 280 of Boruto featured a long-awaited showdown. Boruto remained in the fourth game to take on Kiseru, whom he believed was responsible for the deaths of Batta and Fugou, while the other four survivors—Rokuro, Shamo, Yatsume, and Namua—dropped out. The rest of the players came back to the game and crowded around Kiseru and Boruto in an attempt to find out the truth. The ensuing conflict was heated, and the unexpected turn of events shocked everyone.
Recap of Episode 279
When Batta has reason to suspect Kiseru, she confides in Boruto in Episode 279 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations titled The Obstacle: Seven. When Boruto and Batta finally catch up with the rest of the survivors, they find that the next experiment is all set up, with everyone holding red envelopes. After that, Ouga shows up and teleports them away. Ouga discloses that the numbers in the red envelopes range from 1 to 8 and that they have two hours to exchange 7 points with each other. After a brief argument with Batta, Kiseru learns that Batta may have stolen his communication equipment. While everything is going on, Boruto, Yatsume, Shamo, and Namua, a former criminal turned monk, all open their envelopes to check their totals.
Then they witness the brutal killings of Batta and the merchant Fugou. Rokuro then enters with the names and tags of the prior players who were eliminated in a battle. When Rokuro challenges him to a battle, Namua absorbs the blow so that Boruto may finish him off. Aware of his impending defeat, Rokuro admits that both Batta and Fugou were already dead when he came and that he had just stolen their phone numbers. This leaves just one possible culprit: Kiseru. Boruto leads the others to safety via the exit and then calmly waits for Kiseru, who is holding his seven tags. Mitsuki, Kawaki, and Sarada keep digging for answers in the meanwhile. After a while, Sarada and Kawaki came upon Mitsuki chained to a tree. One of the renegade shinobis did it to him, he said.

Episode 279 Recap
Episode 279 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is named “The Obstacle: Seven,” and it features Batta confiding in Boruto about her unsettling suspicions regarding Kiseru. The next experiment is all set up when Boruto and Batta join the other survivors; everyone is holding red envelopes. Then Ouga appears and teleports them away. Ouga explains that the numbers from 1 to 8 are hidden in the red envelopes and that they have two hours to trade points with each other so that they end up with a total of 7. Kiseru now suspects Batta stole his communicator during their earlier argument.
Meanwhile, criminal-turned-monk Namua, together with Boruto, Yatsume, and Shamo, check the sums inside their envelopes. Then they witness the brutal killings of Batta and the merchant Fugou. Then Rokuro walks in with the names and numbers of the prior players who were eliminated due to a fight. After taking a blow to protect Boruto when Rokuro challenged him to a battle, Boruto was able to easily defeat Rokuro. Rokuro eventually admits defeat and shares the devastating news that Batta and Fugou were already dead when he came and that he merely stole their phone numbers. With this information, we can exclude all but one possible suspect, Kiseru.
Boruto leads the others to safety, then waits patiently for Kiseru, who is holding his seven tags, at the exit. Mitsuki, Kawaki, and Sarada are still digging into the matter. Mitsuki was subsequently discovered by Sarada and Kawaki, bound to a tree. A renegade shinobi, he said, had attacked him.
Overview of Boruto Episode 279
Right from the bat in Episode 279, Batta named Kiseru as the one she suspected of being the traitor. Since we come from roughly the same general area, we know that the hot springs are located on the opposite side of the mountain from where the sun sets, thus his story about soaking in one while watching the sun go down rings false. Sum, the fourth of five games, was unveiled. All of the surviving people were assigned a number from one to eight. Those who didn’t have a total of 7 had to borrow cards from the other players until they did in order to pass the round.
In this episode, we learn the truth about Fugou’s family and the briefcase. Eventually, he and Batta were killed by a mysterious assailant. When Boruto confronted Rokuro, the latter temporarily lost it and wanted to wipe the slate clean by eliminating everyone there. Five of them tallied up their cards and defeated him; Yatsume, Shamo, Namu, and Rokuro left by the exit while Boruto stayed to face Kiseru.
This Sunday, December 18 at 5:30 pm JST, episode 280 of Boruto will premiere. The show will premiere on TV TOKYO and other regional Japanese channels before going global. The 280th Episode of Boruto will be available on services like Crunchyroll, Funimation, Hulu, & VRV as soon as it airs in Japan.
Fan favourite Batta and businessman Fugou both passed away in episode 279. When he told Batta that his family was being held prisoner, the latter’s narrative was disclosed.
Boruto battled and defeated Rokuro elsewhere. As he awaited the arrival of Kiseru, the suspected traitor, at the departure gates, he assisted the rogue shinobi Yatsume, Shamo, and Namua in clearing the stage.
When and where can we expect the premiere?
The 280th episode of Boruto will be shown simultaneously. Therefore, viewers outside of Japan won’t have to wait to see Boruto and Kiseru, the Kara Outer, do combat. Following is a quick rundown of when the newest episode will be available to stream in each time zone.

The time in India is currently 2:00 PM IST.
It’s 4:30 in the Philippines right now.

Any hints as to what to anticipate from next week’s Boruto episode?
After the events of episode 279. Rokuro, Yatsume, Shamo, and Namua left the game, leaving Boruto behind. They found out how to make the total of all the numbers add up to 7, passing the level. The elimination of Batta and Fugou left just Kiseru standing. Boruto reasoned that Batta must be right, so he decided to wait at the exit to check his thoughts. Kiseru could have been the one who killed Batta and Fugou, as he was carrying the number 7. In the 280th episode of Boruto, we’ll find out if he did it or not.
Given Pierrot’s recent success, with new episodes featuring consistently high-quality animation being produced on a monthly basis, the battle is expected to be spectacular.
