Last month, the final chapter of the popular Japanese manga Tokyo Revengers was released. In March 2017, the manga began serialisation in Kodansha’s Weekly Shnen Magazine. Among the best-selling manga series of all time, as of July 2022, the manga has over 65 million copies in circulation, including 7 million copies outside of Japan. The manga concludes with a hopeful tone, despite its many violent scenes, tragic deaths, and other emotional lows.
The creator of the Tokyo Revengers, Ken Wakui, will deliver a special arc to the fans in a large-scale display in Roppongi, Tokyo, somewhere around November 2023, as announced in issue 51 of Kodansha’s Weekly Shnen Magazine. Tokyo Revengers creator Ken Wakui has announced that he would create an eight-chapter spin-off series called “Tokyo Revengers Extra,” which will be serialised in the next eight issues of the Weekly Shonen Magazine. The original members of the Tokyo Manji Gang will be featured heavily in the offshoot books.
On January 31, 2023, the 31st and final volume of Ken Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga will be released. The origins of the Tokyo Manji Gang will be the focus of the Tokyo Revengers Special storyline. ‘The Wounded Tiger’ is the name of the 1st story in the arc.
In addition, from April through September of 2021, you may watch Liden Films’ anime adaptation of the manga. Episodes from Season 2 of Tokyo Revengers will begin airing in the United States in the month of January 2023. Its live-action film adaption debuted in Japan in July 2021, and a sequel is scheduled for 2023.
Disney+ and Hotstar have recently been confirmed as the official streaming platforms for Season 2 of Tokyo Revengers. “Disney and Kodansha have announced plans to increase their strategic partnership and distribute animated works beginning in January 2023. Disney Plus will continue to be the official global distributor of animated features based on Kodansha’s popular manga.”
Since the events of Tokyo Revengers Season 2 take place around the holiday season, the new release trailer suggests that the story arc will be the Black Dragon arc. Following Takemichi’s return to the present in the Christmas Showdown Arc, the following tale will be shown in Tokyo Revengers Season 2. Takemichi learns once again that the Tokyo Manji Gang is a massive criminal organisation thanks to its absorption of the Black Dragons, and his friends continue to be murdered.
