Many years have passed since we first heard rumours of the massive Alacryn army and its invincible troops marching towards Decathen in preparation for the great conflict. Only in Chapter 169 did we finally meet someone who had fought against them before. Helen and her companions tell everyone that they’ve just come back from the wall, where they defeated the Alacryn army. What they say about the combat backs up all the rumours we’ve heard about them.
Review of The Beginning After The End Chapter 169
Helen explains to Tessia that they were brought back from the wall to assist with reconnaissance when she questions their return. They should be ready, she says. Tessia inquires if they battled Alacryns at the wall, to which Helen affirmatively responds, “Yes,” before stating that the Mages are not the primary concern, but rather the Beasts. According to Angela, Alacryn now has possession of a mutant S-Class Mana Beast, which can be used to command tens of thousands of other Beasts.
Moreover, they must eliminate the S-Class Beast before the Alacryns use it to command the other Beasts and breach the barrier. When Tessa presses Adam for details on the Alacryn army, he angrily insists that the conflict is not appropriate for a bedtime story. Tessia explains that she is trying to learn as much as possible before sending her troops off to the fight. To calm down, Angela removes Adam from another room. A man suddenly passes out and is rushed to the hospital. He’s been unwell, the doctor explains since he’s been jogging constantly for so long that he’s dehydrated and exhausted.
Drogo is curious as to who the man may possibly be escaping from. The man opens his eyes wide in shock and apparent terror. When Drogo inquires as to the whereabouts of him and his crew, he is told that they perished in battle. He claims that Gnolls, more dangerous than any they’ve encountered previously, had eaten them all. After several days of hiding, he decided it was too risky to activate the teleportation gate for fear that the Gnolls would destroy it. He explains that whatever was on the other side of the barrier was worth preserving by the Gnolls and that this something is presumably the S-Class Mutant.
