On Tuesday, November 15th, further One Piece Chapter 1067 teasers were posted, providing some much-needed development and explanation on the earlier leaks. Additional information about the ancient robot’s assault on the World Government and Vegapunk’s Devil Fruit and its connection to “Punk Records” are also included. Vegapunk’s character is also fleshed up here, with the spoilers seemingly confirming a common fan idea that he intends to be kidnapped away from Egghead by the Straw Hats. They claim that CP0 is on the island to murder Jewelry Bonney as well, providing the Straw Hats with a second ally with which they might be able to rescue the arc. Spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1067 provide more about Vegapunk’s backstory, research goals, and more.
Extra hints
Starting off the spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1067, we are reminded that the issue is titled “Punk Records,” and that the cover story pits Caesar Clown against Vinsmoke Judge. Additional spoilers indicate that in addition to Vegapunk’s innate intelligence, he gained even more superpowers after eating the “Nomi Nomi no Mi” Brain-Brain Fruit. Because of the Fruit, Vegapunk’s brain can now hold an infinite amount of data, but the size of his brain and skull also rise proportionally.
The top part of the enormous egg on Egghead Island is subsequently shown to be comprised of information from Vegapunk’s brain and to be expanding. We’ve arrived at Egghead’s “Punk Records” sub-folder. As far as we can determine, Dr Vegapunk and the other six satellite Vegapunks contribute new information to Punk Records every day. The genuine Vegapunk’s antenna apple connects him to Punk Records. Vegapunk then goes on to tell Jinbe about his plans to make it so that anybody can access and contribute to Punk Records. As Jinbe points out, this might be problematic if individuals start putting in their prejudiced opinions.
Vegapunk apparently doesn’t care or doesn’t respond here, but subsequent spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1067 show him talking about Momonosuke’s dragon fruit. He describes himself as a perfectionist and claims he immediately wrote it off when he saw the colour wasn’t quite right. The old robot discovered by Luffy’s crew turns out to have been constructed 900 years earlier, to have crossed the Red Line, and to have assaulted Mariejois 200 years ago. The onslaught drained its fuel supply, and the World Government eventually took it. It was the same year that the “Fishman Discrimination Incident” happened, as Robin points out.
Further spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1067 reveal that Vegapunk claims Vega Force 01 was designed to mimic the robot, but that he was unable to determine the source of the old robot’s fuel. He calls it a power source that is “unknown for the current period,” which probably means that whatever formerly powered the robot no longer does. Even further spoilers reveal that Bonney attacks Vegapunk with the lightsaber she discovered, only to find out that the lightsaber is a failure of innovation since it attracts bugs.
As Vegapunk claims he has something he wants to give Bonney, she passes out from her fear of insects. But he doesn’t disclose what it is, and spoilers don’t reveal it, either. Shockingly, though, in One Piece Chapter 1067, Vegapunk asks Luffy to rescue him from Egghead Island. Next, we see CP0 and Seraphim Kuma at Egghead, where they’ve come to request entry to the island. Lucci mentions hearing that Jewelry Bonney was in the neighbourhood, and how she is a “troublesome woman” due to her history of evasions.
But he makes clear that the Global Government has no need for her, so they can murder her if they discover her.
On the other hand, Shaka refuses to let CP0 in, instructing them to leave Seraphim Kuma where he is. The other Vegapunk satellites are covertly ordered by him to get ready for combat. Additional spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1067 reveal that the real Bartholomew Kuma suddenly wakes up and starts sprinting across Momoiro Island’s Kamabakka Kingdom. In spite of his injuries, he seems determined to reach his destination, as Dragon and Ivankov yell encouragement to him in the dying minutes of the issue.
