Now that One Piece Chapter 1066 is out, it’s a fine moment to review the previously established timeline of Vegapunk events. It’s worth your time to get to know this guy because he’s often considered to be the savviest character in the show. Vegapunk is the Marines’ head scientist and a crucial factor in their victories. A closer look into One Piece Chapter 1066 reveals that this person is more complicated than they initially appear.
What you need to know about Vegapunk if you’ve read One Piece Chapter 1066
Karakuri Island is where he was born
In Chapter 1066 of One Piece, Vegapunk’s true age of 63 years was revealed. His birthplace was the paradisiacal island of Karakuri. Franky was sent there by Bartholomew Kuma so that he may see and learn from Vegapunk’s creations. Vegapunk gained a lot of knowledge from the Void Century, as shown in Chapter 1066 of One Piece. The fact remains, though, that he is a true scientific genius. Even before Vegapunk heard about the Great Kingdom, Karakuri Island was well on its way to becoming a technological powerhouse. He could also figure out how to use strange machines by disassembling them.
One of the MADS was Vegapunk. Researchers at MADS have uncovered the Lineage Factor, which they call the “blueprint of life,” but nothing more is known about them. Among the group’s other members, Vegapunk was the most notable.
Judge Vinsmoke
King ClownCaesar
Everyone in this group was highly regarded for their scientific prowess. Forcefully disbanded by the World Government 24 years before the events of One Piece Chapter 1066.
His promotion as head Marine Corps scientist was a big deal
Later on after Vegapunk’s incarceration, the Marines hired him to lead their research labs. He had Sentomaru appointed as his bodyguard. The following scientific breakthroughs might be attributed to Vegapunk in the long run:
Ancestral influences on those who consume Devil Fruit Marine vessels are protected from Sea Kings with a seastone covering. Island destinations like Egghead now have the weather they like thanks to climate engineering. The real deal on how devil fruits give their owners their special abilities The Warlord system has been superseded by the Seraphim project and the Pacifista project. At one point in the past, the Marines kidnapped Kaido. Vegapunk exploited the future Emperor’s DNA to develop synthetic versions of the devil fruit.
Momonosuke presently uses a Seiryu version of Kaido’s Devil Fruit, the Uo Uo no Mi. In One Piece Chapter 1066, we learn that Monkey D. Dragon didn’t like the concept that Vegapunk would become a “government dog” during a flashback sequence. The scientist, however, emphasised that he couldn’t continue his study without money, something he had never had access to on Karakuri Island. Egghead is the “Island of the Future,” where Vegapunk now makes its home. Although, after Chapter 1066 of One Piece, we won’t know for sure if he’ll be forced to depart. He is the target of an assassination by CP0 for “knowing too much.”
The researchers are still in touch with Dragon. Vegapunk owes it to him to warn him of his impending death even before Chapter 1066 of One Piece. Of course, with Luffy by his side, Rob Lucci’s task has become considerably more challenging.
A final wish was granted by the scientist to Kuma
There was no free choice involved in Bartholomew Kuma’s decision to join a Pacifista for the World Government, yet for some reason he did. Before the operation was finished, however, Vegapunk obliged him with one last favour. Kuma was concerned about the safety of the Thousand Sunny throughout the intervening two years. Without understanding it, Vegapunk ended up aiding the Straw Hats. Jewellery Bonney, Kuma’s daughter, has arrived at Egghead in search of advice from the great scientist.
Vegapunk splintered into six separate entities
Within the last 20 years, Vegapunk made the decision to optimise his work processes in order to produce more with less effort. He compartmentalised himself into six sub-entities with unique roles and characteristics: Punk-1 Shaka is “Good,” Punk-2 Lilith is “Evil,” and Punk-3 Edison is “Neutral” (Punk-03) The “Thinking” Pythagorean (Punk-04) At the Atlas of Knowledge (Punk-05) New York: “Violence” (Punk-06) Excessive Want
All in One Based on what we learn in Chapter 1066, Vegapunk’s head size was formerly monstrous. When the Straw Hats finally arrived at Egghead, though, his head was the standard size and he was wearing a metal helmet. The general consensus among readers is that he built his satellites out of what was left of his brain, although this has not been verified. It’s also not obvious which satellite was responsible for which discovery in recent times.
He has some knowledge about the Great Kingdom
The connection between Vegapunk and the Great Kingdom is explored further in Chapter 1066 of One Piece. He went to the island not long after the World Government bombed Ohara to offer his respects. His research led him to the conclusion that giants were rescuing books from the river and thereby ensuring that history would not be lost forever. As time passed, Vegapunk made a covert journey to Elbaf to read the books for himself. He became well-versed in the history of the Void Century and its technical developments, particularly those of the Great Kingdom. Eventually, Vegapunk would figure out a way to pick up where researchers in Ohara had left off. Though it may look futuristic at first glance, Egghead is in fact inspired by the ancient Great Kingdom. There’s no need to say more than that Chapter 1066 of One Piece is a significant eye-opener in this respect.
Theory, Chapter 1066 of One Piece
At the start of One Piece chapter 1066, the Straw Hats cast doubt on Vegapunk Shaka’s assertions from the previous issue regarding the technology on Egghead Island. Everybody can’t believe that the island of the future could be built with ancient technologies. Shaka makes it clear that this is just speculation before reminiscing about a brave archaeologist he knew who put his life on the line to uncover the secrets of “a certain Ancient Kingdom.”
He goes on to state that machinery from the same time period as the Ancient Kingdom was unearthed at “a certain place” of an archaeological dig.
Robin presses him for clarification, asking if what he’s saying is that machines were invented during the Void Century, but Shaka redirects the topic back to her. To clear things up, he suggests that Ohara’s discovery of the Kingdom’s existence may have been a contributing factor to the Oharan slaughter. According to Shaka, the 20 countries that would eventually form the World Government and the Ancient Kingdom fought a brutal war for 100 years known as the Void Century. To everyone’s surprise, including Sanji’s (who correctly deduces that those who know of this are eventually destroyed), he concludes by arguing that the Ancient Kingdom was obliterated from history to guarantee its beliefs wouldn’t carry on.
The Straw Hats are indignant and want to put this out of their minds, but Shaka assures them it’s just conjecture. He then asks Robin whether or not the World Government’s activities that day amounted to “tantamount to a validation” of his theory. She questions his authority and asks why he needs to know this, revealing that the academics have come up with a hypothesis after much study. Shaka says it doesn’t matter whose government he’s allied with, and he’s kept in the dark to the point where discussing it may get him killed. Usopp interrupts Robin for a while to protest, and Robin responds by asking how he knows this given that all the books and literature about Ohara were burned. But Shaka says he went to Ohara a few months after the Buster Call and that “the will of Ohara lives on.”
To honour Professor Clover, he went to drop flowers at his office. When Robin inquires as to how Shaka knew Clover, he replies that his fascination with the Void Century once inspired an unconventional way of life. According to him, Clover became the most well-known archaeologist in the world after searching the globe for manuscripts, during which time he was imprisoned at least 10 times. According to Shaka, Ohara became a centre of learning and discovery when academics, archaeologists, and other knowledgeable people began to congregate there. Shaka reveals that he, the real Dr Vegapunk, was rendered speechless when he saw the Tree of Knowledge reduced to ash. But he reveals that the island’s central lake was stuffed with literature and information.
He explains that he thinks it’s the work of wise men and women who, in their dying moments, made the decision to pass on their wisdom to the next generation. According to Shaka, the fact that Ohara won and Vegapunk was reduced to tears proves that any footsoldier Marines who saw them didn’t recognise what they were. In Chapter 1066 of One Piece, Robin begins to think about her mother, Nico Olvia, who stayed behind because she had unfinished business. Her reminiscence resumes, but this time it’s shortened to focus on the scholar’s decision to save the books and reference materials and Olvia’s decision to put herself at risk for Robin’s future. As the flashback concludes in Chapter 1066 of One Piece, Robin is shown sobbing in the present.
Robin asks where the books from the lake are, confirming Shaka’s suspicions just as Sanji and company start to become agitated. Chapter 1066 of One Piece shifts into another flashback, as Luffy, reveals that he intended to take them back to Punk Hazard but realised it was too perilous, marking the beginning of their story. Chapter 1066 of One Piece introduces Vegapunk and hints at the defiant side of his personality. Several months after the Buster Call, in Chapter 1066 of One Piece, a young Dr Vegapunk arrives in Ohara and witnesses the Giants retrieving the books from the lake. Monkey D. Dragon himself approaches Vegapunk and comments on how long it has been, prompting Vegapunk to wonder if they realise their significance and what he should do.
They both inquire as to their whereabouts and reveal that they had already crossed paths with Professor Clover. Dr Vegapunk goes on a rant about how Clover’s attempts to ruin the planet are nothing but propaganda, but Dragon assures him that he has already spoken with the Giants and that he need not be concerned. They are headed by “a weird Giant clothed from head to toe in bandages,” suggesting that they are from Elbaf and are aware of the book’s importance. According to the injured Giant, Ohara gave its life so that its books wouldn’t be lost to history. When the Giants finally return with the books, Dragon is relieved but still worried about running across a “Government lackey” like Vegapunk. Then, Dragon jokes about how Vegapunk has become a lapdog for the World Government by revealing that he once invited him to join his “Freedom Fighters” squad.
Vegapunk says that he shouldn’t bother thinking about Dragon’s “rag-tag enterprise” because it has no money or resources. In agreement, Dragon says that his seemingly long-time friend is as direct as ever. Vegapunk provides further explanation for his decisions here, arguing that the World Government is a sizable organisation with many “decent people” who can be persuaded, especially within the Navy. Finally, he cautions Dragon to “lose sight of the end goal,” to which Dragon replies that the World Government’s most recent move is over the line. He says it’s ridiculous that the Oharans are being exterminated for challenging authority and that he’ll build an army to face them head-on.
Vegapunk is confused since the flashback in One Piece chapter 1066 concludes with Dragon making a promise to transform the world, and he recalls that Dragon detested war. In the present, Shaka recounts that Dragon, Emporio Ivankov, and Bartholomew Kuma established the Revolutionary Army within a year after that event. As Shaak elaborates on how his insatiable curiosity brought him to Elbaf, where the volumes were stored, the Straw Hats weigh in on various points of the narrative that are of particular interest to them. He was able to talk to everyone and absorb all the information Ohara found about the world, remembering everything. Jaguar D. Saul, his face obscured by a bandage, may be seen conversing with Vegapunk in what looks to be an Oharan library.
Shaka says he has all of Ohara’s information stored in his brain and has carried on their investigation. When Robin inquires as to whether or not the Giant captain’s name is Saul, Vegapunk replies that he is currently in hiding and is unable to comment. Yet Robin interprets this as proof and expresses gratitude to Shaka (now referred to as “Dr Vegapunk”) for ensuring that Ohara’s sacrifice was not in vain. He only retorts that it is in his inherent nature as a scholar to expand into any and all avenues of inquiry. The Straw Hats’ shoes start moving on their own all of a sudden in One Piece chapter 1066. Shaka says he can’t let them go just yet, and that he has something he wants to show them if they’ll follow him. The focus returns to Luffy and the company, who are still next to the enormous robot they discovered in earlier chapters (1066). Since the robot is “the sort that moves on its own,” Chopper and Luffy can’t figure out how to enter it.
Even though Bonney insists it cannot move, the group begins giving it unique names and instructions, such as “Robonosuke” and “Roboking.” Shortly after, however, Luffy hears a loud noise and fears that the robot will explode. Someone suddenly yells for help, claiming something along the lines of “space-time twisted mid-warp” and trapped them. While Bonney seems to recognise the stranger, Luffy goes to aid him. At the same time, the stranger acknowledges Luffy as Dragon’s son, remarking that he always knew Luffy would make it here. Next, he comments on Bonney, noting that she has grown much since they last met. When Chopper and Luffy inquire as to the man’s means of flight, he demonstrates the feature on their shoes that would allow them to float as well. Unfortunately, in One Piece chapter 1066, the true Dr Vegapunk is introduced and the trio ends up soaring too high and needs to be saved once again.
