To store, analyse, and manage network data, devices, and systems—sometimes as many as tens of thousands of them—the leading server manufacturers developed servers, which are massive, powerful computers. By making available ample resources for network devices and systems, servers act as the engine that fuels businesses, services, and entertainment. If you need to host a data-heavy website, set up a shared drive for your department, or manage thousands of requests per minute, you’ll need a server.
Inspur controls 10.1% of the market
The massive information technology firm Inspur in mainland China focuses on big data, servers, storage, artificial intelligence technologies, and enterprise resource planning. The company’s marketing headquarters were moved to Beijing at the beginning of the millennium, and Microsoft even invested $20 million in the venture. After its original introduction in 1993 in China, Inspur Server Series personal computers were exported to other countries. It is believed that the Inspur Server Series were the first servers developed by a Chinese firm due to the scarcity of knowledge regarding Chinese technology at the time due to the country’s political stance.
Among the offerings are GPU servers, which are exceptionally robust computers designed to deal with AI-related tasks and programmes. In addition, there are open compute servers, rack-mounted servers, and multi-node servers included. This company’s newest GPU server, for instance, is outfitted with 16 Nvidia GPUs and has a combined computing power of 20 petaflops (20,000 teraflops). By comparison, the 36 teraflops generated by a regular Nvidia Ge Force RTX 3090 is rather low (0,036 petaflops).
With a 16.8 percent share, Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a major player in the market.
Very few individuals will have gone their whole lives without seeing the instantly recognisable hp emblem on a computer, scanner, or printer, although the Hewlett-Packard Company itself no longer exists. Most people don’t know that in 1938 and 1939, before HP became a worldwide leader in IT, it helped Walt Disney with the production of Fantasia by providing test and measurement equipment. Over the years, the company expanded into a global powerhouse renowned for its innovative products. In 2007, HP overtook Dell as the world’s largest PC maker, but the company’s true strength lay in the development of networking, computing, data storage, and computing hardware, as well as the provision of related software and services.
HP still sells to consumers in the home at a significant rate, but the business has diversified into the big data services industry as well. In 2015, the company separated Hewlett Packard Enterprise, or HPE for short, the world’s second-largest server maker.
Dell Technologies: 17.2% Market Share
Dell Technologies Inc., one of the largest PC manufacturers in the world, is famous for its high-end laptops, both for gaming and for business. Dell Computer Corporation is a multinational computer technology corporation that was founded in 1987 from the ashes of PC’s Limited. The company changed its name to Dell after a merger with EMC Corporation in 2016. American multinational technology firm Apple Inc. still produces PCs, smartphones, televisions, and software. Information security, as well as computer and network security, are only a few examples of the additional services that come with this.
In reality, though, there are two distinct corporations at work here, with the latter serving as the servers division. Dell Client Solutions, responsible for 48% of the company’s revenue, continues to manufacture desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, and a range of peripherals under the Dell name. For 41% of Dell’s annual revenue, go no farther than Dell EMC Infrastructure Solutions Group, which manufactures servers, storage, and networking.
This has helped Dell become the largest server company in the world, with a share of more than 16% of the global server market. The second largest company after Dell is Hewlett-Packard.
