A person is said to be in good health if they are not unwell, injured, or in poor mental or physical condition. According to the World Health Organization, health is a comprehensive condition of mental, physical, and social well-being and does not only refer to the absence of illness or disability. People assess their health in different ways. Some people prioritise physical beauty, body weight, or muscular mass, while others prioritise mental health, and still, others concentrate on the absence of illnesses and diseases. The United States is one of the richest nations in the world, and it spends by far the most money on healthcare globally. Despite this, there are still many chronic health issues and avoidable fatalities in the United States.
The status of each state’s health varies, much like many other aspects of life. The prevalence of obesity, which can cause additional issues including certain forms of cancer, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, is a significant health issue in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 42.4% of Americans were obese in 2017–2018. Compared to 1999–2000, this is a huge rise from 30.5%. The states with the greatest obesity rates are Louisiana, Mississippi, West Virginia, and Alabama. In 2008, the projected yearly medical expense of obesity in the United States was $147 billion. From 9.5% in 2012 to 10.9% in 2018, the prevalence of diabetes has grown in the United States.
The biggest contributors to good health are healthy habits and active lives, but there are many other factors that can have an impact as well, including housing, financial security (particularly household income), lifestyle/culture, job, community safety, education, and environment. The general status of health of any state’s population might differ substantially depending on these factors.
California is rated as the nation’s healthiest and fittest state
According to recent research, California is the healthiest state in America, has the fittest population, and ranks second only to Oregon in terms of eating well. California was placed first in the survey by Innerbody Research, a Palo Alto-based company that examines home health goods and services. This is mostly due to the state’s low smoking rate and plenty of exercise and health facilities. According to the report, California will be the healthiest state overall in 2022 because of a dozen characteristics connected to health.
Utah came in third, followed by Colorado. West Virginia came in last place. While several of the lower-ranking states were in the South, the five healthiest states were all located in the West. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System of the CDC, the Yelp API, and Google search trends were used to generate the study’s data. The researchers came to the conclusion that “where you reside might have a favourable or negative effect on your health.” According to our research, California and Colorado’s environments are favourable for emphasising healthy living.
