Call Me Kat, a Fox sitcom, has been put on indefinite hiatus after the death of its actress, Leslie Jordan. The famous actor, 67 years old, went tragically abruptly on Monday following a vehicle accident in Hollywood. Jordan had finished production on nine episodes of the current third season before his death. In light of the tragic events, the next show, scheduled to air on Thursday, October 27, will include a special in-memoriam tribute to him. The show’s star, Mayim Bialik, and co-star Jordan have been working together since the pilot. Regular on the show, Jordan portrayed Phil, a gay man who moves in with Kat (Bialik) when she left her comfortable university professor position to become the head chef at her new cat café. Full of genuine Southern hospitality, he quickly became one of Kat’s closest friends both at work and in her personal life.
In one of the remaining episodes of Season 3, he meets Jalen, played by guest actor John Griffin, who becomes his first romantic interest. Jordan co-starred with the likes of Cheyenne Jackson, Kyla Pratt, Julian Gant, Swoosie Kurtz, and Christopher Rivas in addition to Bialik. In the wake of his passing, Bialik and the rest of his castmates issued a statement remembering their time working with the Emmy winner: The cast and crew of Call Me Kat are heartbroken beyond description. A larger-than-life figure, Leslie Jordan was. He embodied the ideal of a Southern gentleman: sensitive, sage, sneaky, and amusing. The thought of life without our Leslie—the man who spit on his contact lenses before inserting them, the man who had a story about every man in Hollywood and some of the women as well, the man who lived to make people laugh—is incomprehensible.
We got to know and love him at the height of his happiness and joy. We ask for privacy while we mourn Leslie’s loss and honour the numerous ways she enriched our lives and the lives of others around us. Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment both released comments hailing Jordan as a genuine, upbeat, and incredibly accomplished performer. While his experience is extensive and covers a wide variety of genres, he is probably best known for his role as Beverly Leslie on the Emmy-winning comedy series Will & Grace. In addition to his heroic actions during the epidemic, he will be remembered by social media users for the amusing and compassionate postings he published on Instagram.
Also on Call Me Kat, he was a brilliant and hilarious addition, responsible for most of the show’s laughs. Make Contact With Me There are still five episodes left to air before Kat takes a break to grieve Jordan’s death and figure out what comes next.
