It’s a family affair, in more ways than one, this Christmas season. A brand new trailer for the upcoming romance comedy Sam & Kate has been released. Sam & Kate, starring Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek, is an uplifting family picture. Jake Hoffman, the real-life father of actor Dustin Hoffman, plays Sam’s father, Bill, in the film. Sam, an artist, goes back to his hometown to help out with his sick father. Sam falls in love with a local girl named Kate, played by Schuyler Fisk, who is also the real-life daughter of Sissy Spacek. Bill, meantime, begins a relationship with Tina, Kate’s mother (Spacek).
As they are forced to confront their pasts in order to move on to a better future, the four will find both connections and problems in their burgeoning courtships. The film is a unique collaboration between two actual parent-child couples, exploring the nuances of family bonds as kids grow up and parents encounter new obstacles in later life. The new trailer emphasises the film’s emotional depth as well as its spontaneous merriment in its presentation of the courage of love across the lifespan. Along with the new video, a new poster was also unveiled that featured all four characters in one shot, with Sam gazing tenderly at Kate and Tina playfully at Bill. It’s hard raising parents,” reads the slogan on the movie’s poster, suggesting that a role reversal will provide the conflict in the film. The producers of Sam & Kate are Vertical Entertainment.
Darren Le Gallo is responsible for both the script and the direction of the picture. Sam & Kate seems like the ideal film for the holidays when we’re all reflecting on our own families, and it will offer you a chance to see the striking similarities between the Hoffman and Spacek clans. On November 11, 2022, audiences will be able to see Sam & Kate in theatres. In a few weeks, the Austin Film Festival will go up and the premiere will take place there.
