A new trailer for the forthcoming second season of the HBO series The White Lotus suggests that something dark is happening. Guests from all over the world are making their way to the resort’s Sicilian location, but they won’t be able to kick back and relax because of the murder and mayhem that awaits them. It opens with the voiceover saying, “I feel like I’m in a dream. ” while the familiar visage of Jennifer Coolidge’s fan-favourite character Tanya McQuoid reappears, this time aboard a boat. It has a powerful intoxicating effect. The second season of Mike White and Danielle Chibnall’s Emmy-winning comedy will introduce an entirely new set of characters, with the exception of Coolidge and her on-screen husband Greg (Jon Gries).
Aubrey Plaza and Will Sharpe, who play the Spillers, a married couple on their way to the famous resort for a romantic time filled with reconnection, also get some nice closeups in the promotional look. In spite of this, it’s clear from the knowing looks exchanged between the Spillers that their vacation won’t be relaxing. In the short movie, the couple raises a glass to the start of their Italian vacation with their friends, the Babcocks (Meghann Fahy and Theo James), who will be joining them for the duration of their trip.
Michael Imperioli’s Dominic Di Grasso is seen staring up at a woman in a hotel room while on vacation with his son Albie (Adam DiMarco) and father Bert (F. Murray Abraham). Finally, a scene of a corpse bag being carried by the police appears, demonstrating that not even the height of opulence is immune to sinister goings-on. The White Lotus Season 2 will introduce a number of new characters to viewers, including those shown in the trailer. Tom Hollander will play Quentin, an ex-pat on vacation with his nephew Jack, while Haley Lu Richardson will play Portia, Tanya’s personal assistant (Leo Woodwall).
Mia (Beatrice Grann) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco) are two local girls out for a good time, while Valentina (Sabrina Impacciatore) is the hotel manager in charge of guest relations. Just over a month after sweeping the Emmys with 11 nominations and five wins, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress, the second season premieres on HBO on October 30. We are eager to see what White and his new (and returning) characters at the titular hotel have in store for us as the excitement surrounding the show’s second season continues to build.
