In Chapter 370 of My Hero Academia, it is revealed that Spinner and Shoji have more in common than they give themselves credit for. Spinner is leading a horde of mutant criminals as they make their way towards the Central Hospital. Mezo Shoji and his team of 200 heroes are being outmatched by at least 15,000. The odds are currently stacked against our heroes, and things are not looking good. The values of Spinner and Shoji directly conflict in My Hero Academia Chapter 370. Kohei Horikoshi, the show’s creator, also gave some background information. They’re both made of the same stuff; it just so happens that their life paths diverge.
A lot happened in Spinner’s early years.
Spinner has rejoined the group as of the previous chapter. At the Central Hospital, everyone’s attention has shifted to him. In the prologue to Chapter 370 of My Hero Academia, Spinner reflected on his past, when he was taunted and hit with rocks because of his reptile look. At the conclusion of the flashback, he considers his life while gazing out over the water. The significance of this will become clear in a later recall later in the chapter. There are probably a lot of other Mutants who feel the same way about themselves. Chapter 370 of My Hero Academia reveals further context on why Spinner lived a hermit’s existence for so much of his adulthood. If he had left the safety of his home, he would have been met with jeers and maybe stones. How Stain may serve as an inspiration to him is not hard to fathom.
He had the opinion that heroes were useless in assisting those with Mutant Quirks. The similarities between Shoji and himself began in their childhoods. In addition, Shoji’s history is explored more in My Hero Academia Chapter 370. The chapter ends with his identity exposed, and it’s evident that he comes from the same place as Spinner. As the Mutant army approaches Shoji, he is reminded of the discrimination he has faced from his fellow humans. Similarly to Spinner, Shoji had a flashback in which he viewed the water. Scars on his face suggest he was once the victim of a racist attack. Despite sharing the same experiences, Shoji and Spinner are as different as night and day. Deku and Shigaraki, Todoroki and Dabi, and a number of other heroes and villains share a lot of similarities.
My Hero Academia Chapter 370 features a similar situation between Shoji and Spinner. The ocean serves as a focal point in each of their histories, which Horikoshi emphasises. In the show, both Shoji and Spinner come from similar backgrounds. Both were subjected to brutal prejudice just because society refused to accept them. They were trying to get some perspective, so they stared out towards the water. Those two things are similar to each other like two sides of the same coin. By My Hero Academia Chapter 370, though, they had taken quite different directions. Shoji is doing his utmost to save the innocent from Spinner and his Mutant army. Horikoshi informs his listeners that even if they may have the same experiences, they might end up quite differently.
