According to Deadline, Dermot Mulroney will play the lead role in the forthcoming action thriller Ruthless. Filming is scheduled to begin later this month, with the actor playing a high school coach on a mission to save one of his children. Mulroney has become well-known for his portrayal of leading men in romantic comedies. Among the many wedding comedies in which he has appeared in the classic starring Julia Roberts, My Best Friend’s Wedding. He has also acted in action movies like Young Guns and horror films like Insidious: Chapter 3.
Mulroney has starred in several television programmes as a reoccurring character, including Friends, American Horror Story, Shameless, and New Girl. Mulroney’s casting in the much-anticipated horror sequel Scream 6 was also confirmed not too long ago. After the tragic loss of his daughter, high school coach Mulroney’s life is turned upside down when one of his kids is abducted by a “sex trafficking organisation” (Ruthless). He decides to go on a quest to save her, following in the footsteps of blockbuster movies like Taken. Companions for Mulroney in the film have not been revealed.
Ruthless will be directed by Art Camacho, a former stuntman and combat coordinator who co-wrote the script with James Dean Simington. Camacho’s past directorial credits include several action films including Ice-T, Gary Busey, and Richard Grieco. Both the action film Assasin X and the online series The Camacho Experiment were written by Camacho and Simington. Elias Axume of PEG and Al Bravo of Al Bravo Films will be the film’s producers. Bryan Foster and Carlos Rincon, both of PEG, will serve as executive producers on the project. Producing Entertainment Group (PEG) is a film studio that has found success with action films like Ruthless. Also in post-production are the films Palido, starring Kellan Lutz of Twilight, and Shrapnel, featuring Jason Patric of The Lost Boys.
Synopsis
In this thriller, a high school coach (Mulroney) takes matters into his own hands when one of his pupils is abducted by guys involved in a sex trafficking operation. The man is still traumatised by the murder of his daughter.
