Informational Supplement
The results of the Second Popularity Poll are revealed in Tokyo Revengers chapter 274, with Mikey coming out on top. As for Chifuyu, they say they’re in the second position, with Baji just behind them. As a result of having their own spin-off manga, the latter two appear to have become more well-known. Some supporters are upset that Draken is now in the ninth position. In addition, the whole Tokyo Revengers ensemble appears on one full-colour page in chapter 274. With the announcement of the series’ conclusion coming up in just five more chapters, this is one of the few new elements to celebrate the occasion. The last two chapters of the series and volume 31 will be released in November 2022, barring any delays due to creative or publication pauses.
Raw scans of a few pages from Tokyo Revengers chapter 274 have been released today, coinciding with the announcement of the manga’s conclusion. Leaks expose a surprising aspect of the alleged Dark Impulse and cast further complexity on Shinichiro’s conduct. The sources suggest that this chapter will conclude the flashback and return to the current combat. Tokyo Revengers ends with its 274th chapter, as was foreshadowed earlier this week. Also included are several full-colour pages and the outcomes of the most recent readership survey.
Although the chapter appears to provide light on Mikey’s Dark Impulse, it provides no information on Hanma’s involvement. Raw scans of Tokyo Revenger’s chapter 274 reveal the story behind Dark Impulses and bring an end to Shinichiro’s memory lane. No Holding Back is the title of chapter 274 of Tokyo Revengers, so go ahead and start reading those spoilers. Two raw scanned pages are now making the rounds. Shinichiro’s murder is depicted in the first one from his perspective as the victim.
As he delivers the knockout blow, Shinichiro witnesses the insidious influence of the Dark Impulse on Kazutora’s psyche. Whenever something goes wrong, Kazutora always claims “it’s all Mikey’s fault.” The elderly time-leaper Shinichiro killed to obtain the power cursed him with his last breath, and Shinichiro has never forgotten this. Clearly inferring that the old man’s curse became the Dark Impulse, which may influence the people Shinichiro loves or wants to help, he wonders whether this is karmic punishment for his deeds.
Spoiler page two takes us back to the battlefield, where we see a distraught Haruchiyo. Something Takemichi says to Mikey seems to strike a chord with him. Takemichi, president of Toman for a second time, has that steely look in his eyes that betrays his determination to save the life of the younger Sano sibling no matter what Mikey’s plans are for continuing to atone for Shinichiro’s misdeeds.
Observations
Shinichiro uses the word ” (Ingaouhou),” which may be translated approximately as “Karma,” “Cause and Effect,” and “Retribution,” in the raw scans of Tokyo Revengers chapter 274. Mikey says this in chapter 273, but unlike his brother, Shinichiro seems to perceive it as a heavenly punishment rather than a law of continuity. It is strongly implied in this chapter that the Dark Impulse that troubles Mikey and Kazutora originated from the old man’s curse. However, this may not be the sole explanation, given that Shinichiro has come to this conclusion and is suffering from remorse over the crime he committed.
Death and the forces of evil are not eliminated but only transferred throughout the series by Mangaka Wakui. The fact that Draken’s death has taken the place of Senju’s is the clearest indication of this. In Mikey’s “cause and effect” reasoning, the Dark Impulse that traps him and Kazutora might be a reimagining of Shinichiro’s menacing presence when he murdered the elderly man.
