General Trends Across the Fifteen Most Popular Websites in the United States According to Traffic
The top 100 most visited websites in the United States in July had only a tiny 2% drop in traffic from the previous month. This indicates that the list is pretty consistent. A little less than sixty per cent of websites were experiencing a decline in visitor numbers, with the bulk of the remaining forty per cent exhibiting modest single-digit drops. Google, YouTube, and Facebook continued to hold their positions as the top three most visited websites. Although the traffic appeared to be consistent for the top three, there was a noticeable change among the remainder of the top ten.
Apple, which came in at number 6 on our list, saw a traffic decline of 51% from the previous month to the current month. This indicates that the brand was unable to maintain its remarkable +45% traffic growth from the previous month. Even though Instagram has only lost 3% of its traffic, this may not seem like a huge number, but when viewed in context, it may signal that there is cause for concern.
TikTok improved its ranking by two spots as a result of a 9% growth, coming very close to entering the top 20. The previous month, we analysed the traffic that was sent to websites that dealt with housing, job seeking, and financial matters in an effort to identify any shifts in consumer behaviour that may have occurred as a result of the weakening economy in the United States. And…there were no dips in activity, leading us to believe that customers are continuing to make purchases.
The data for July reveals a different picture. The number of customers using PayPal decreased by 1%, while traffic at Chase decreased by 5%, as well as at other financial institutions that made it into our list. Both Zillow (-7%) and Realtor.com (-6%) have seen a decrease in the number of visitors, which may indicate that there has been a plateau in the market for homes. Both LinkedIn (-10%) and Indeed.com (-10%) experienced rather large declines in user activity, which may be a reflection of people’s desire to remain put and avoid any more uncertainty during times of political and economic unrest.
McDonald’s was one of the businesses that had significant traffic gains in July. Its traffic growth of 20% seems to have come out of nowhere, but if we investigate the brand’s digital efforts for the month of July more thoroughly, we’ll identify the underlying explanation. During the month of July, the fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s sponsored a promotion called “Camp McDonald’s,” which was a “virtual camp experience” of the brand and featured free meals, celebrity collaborations, musical performances, and other enjoyable activities. It would appear that the promotion was successful.
