Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler, a TV series based on DC Comics’ Batman comics and created by Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, has just released its Season 3 trailer on HBO Max. The first two seasons of the 2019 programme broadcast on the premium cable channel Epix, with the third season airing on the WarnerMedia digital platform. After Pennyworth was renewed for a third season, the decision was made public in October 2017 during the DC Fandom event. Pennyworth, the initial title of HBO Max’s next series, has been changed to Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler.
Recently, Heller discussed the transition and explained why he decided to switch platforms.
Historically speaking, “the public had very little leeway. Heller recently said to Deadline, “Now it’s a lot more like a supermarket. I don’t want to seem crude, but you’re on a shelf, and the position on that shelf is suddenly extremely significant. Platforms are therefore significant. We are just overjoyed to have been moved from the upper shelves with the maple honey granola including soy granules to the lower shelves with the cornflakes.
There’s a market for each of those breakfast cereals, but the Frosted Flakes are where the real action is. The showrunner said, “Visibility helps our viewership increase,” noting that name knowledge (most Batman fans probably know who Alfred Pennyworth is) is not enough to get eyes on the screen. In addition to previous DC shows like Doom Patrol, Titans, and Peacemaker, HBO Max will now feature Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler. The show’s first two seasons will be accessible there as well.
In the role made famous by Ben Aldridge’s portrayal of Thomas Wayne, the billionaire protagonist of the show, Jack Bannon plays Alfred Pennyworth, the family’s long-time butler and an ex-SAS soldier and owner of a security company who begins working with Wayne in the 1960s to assist the wealthy benefactor with his charitable endeavours. In the upcoming third season, Alfred will look into a government experiment involving a mind-control chemical on ordinary folks. Additionally, starring is Ryan Fletcher, Dorothy Atkinson, Paloma Faith, and Simon Manyonda. The Batman butler’s backstory, Pennyworth, can be seen in a new documentary available on HBO Max.
