Lindsay Lohan’s legion of devoted admirers is in for a very special Christmas indeed. Everyone knows that Lohan has returned to acting in full force and that the premiere of her new feature film is rapidly approaching. Now that the first trailer for The Parent Trap star’s highly awaited Christmas movie Falling For Christmas has been published on Netflix, our anticipation levels have skyrocketed. Lohan has been quiet for far too long, but this Christmas romantic comedy signals her return to her origins.
In the film, Lohan will play a privileged heiress who becomes engaged but then loses her memory following an accident at a vacation proposal. “May you everyone have a safe and joyous Christmas season! This year, Christmas came early, and I brought gifts,” At the beginning of the trailer, Lohan says adorably as herself before changing into character. She enjoys the lavish lifestyle that her affluent father can provide, but she eventually grows tired of it. The audience is then treated to a touching proposal scenario, which ends tragically as she falls to her death from the icy mountaintop where her fiance had proposed.
The trouble begins when she awakens in a hospital with no memory of who she is. Her swoon-worthy hero, the lodge owner (Chord Overstreet), promises to look after her until she gets well. The film’s core romantic subplot develops when Lohan begins to open up to her host, who has developed romantic feelings for her. Lohan has previously talked about Falling For Christmas with Netflix, calling it “extravagant, volatile [and] gorgeous.” “It’s a breath of new air, a wonderful romantic comedy,” she continues “she was right on the money if this trailer is any indication. Lohan’s return to romantic comedy, the genre that helped establish her as a teen idol, coincides with the release of this film, her first of significant size since 2013’s The Canyons.
One of the three films she agreed to produce for Netflix this year is Falling for Christmas. Also included in the agreement is Irish Wish, which will premiere in 2019 and is presently filming in Ireland. George Young, Jack Wagner, Olivia Perez, Chase Ramsey, Sean J. Dillingham, and Antonio D. Charity round out the cast of Falling For Christmas. Lohan not only plays the major role but also produces the film alongside Brad Krevoy and Riviera Films’ Michael Damian. The screenplay was written by Michael Damian, Ron Oliver, Jeff Bonnett, and Janeen Damian (the film’s director). Amanda Phillips, Eric Jarboe, and David Wulf are all executive producers.
On November 10, Netflix will add the holiday film Falling For Christmas.
