Deadline reports that Natalie Morales and Scott MacArthur have joined the cast of Sony’s No Hard Feelings. Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence will play the lead role in Gene Stupnitsky’s film. Nobody was told anything about Morales or MacArthur. Although few specifics have been shared, No Hard Feelings is being promoted as a dark R-rated comedy. A young woman (Lawrence) is recruited by rich parents to be a friend to their awkward son. It was earlier revealed that Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and Laura Benanti (Gossip Girl) will play the wealthy couple.
In addition, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) has joined the cast, albeit his role is yet unknown. Recent projects for Morales include helming the coming-of-age comedy Plan B for Hulu, for which she also wrote and starred, and directing the indie film Language Lessons, in which she also appeared. The 2019 action-comedy Stuber, which also starred Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani, included her as a supporting character. Furthermore, Morales has been in a number of television shows, such as The Middleman, White Collar, Parks and Recreation, Santa Clarita Diet, and Dead to Me.
A film starring Morales and Jillian Bell titled I’m Totally Fine is in the works. MacArthur is now featured in the Peacock series Killing It alongside Craig Robinson, as well as the HBO film The Righteous Gemstones. In the past, he has co-starred with Kaitlin Olson on the Fox series The Mick, for which he also wrote. MacArthur’s acting credits go well beyond the small screen, as she has acted in movies including El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, and Halloween Kills. Stupnitsky has much experience in the field of humour. Prior to helming his first feature picture, the R-rated comedy Good Boys (out in 2019), he worked as a writer & co-executive producer on the American version of The Office.
The HBO series Hello Ladies was a collaboration between him and Cameron Diaz, and he also penned the script for the Cameron Diaz comedy Bad Teacher. As well as helming No Hard Feelings, Stupnitsky co-wrote the script with John Phillips (Dirty Grandpa), who also serves as the movie’s executive producer. Lawrence will co-produce No Hard Feelings with Alex Saks, Marc Provissiero, Naomi Odenkirk, and Justine Polsky, in addition to acting in the film.
Release date, 16 June 2023: No Hard Feelings.
