Amazon’s newest teaser, featuring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel, gives new meaning to the term “shotgun wedding.” The trailer for the film successfully combines a vacation wedding with a thriller, an action scene, and a romantic comedy. The feature film directed by Jason Moore appears to cover every possible wedding disaster, from inviting an ex to a monster-in-law to pirates ruining the ceremony. In the next film, Lopez and Duhamel will play Darcy and Tom, an engaged couple who start to have second thoughts about their wedding day once their guests arrive but who must then save their loved ones from pirates.
The director of “Pitch Perfect,” Moore, has added his trademark humorous touches to the action scenes, making them just as enjoyable as the rest of the film. The new teaser does a nice job of expanding on the likeable couple and their extremely opinionated families’ interactions through realistic incidents, as shown in the previously released photographs. The film, which originally had Lopez and Armie Hammer in the starring roles, was announced in 2020. Hammer, however, disassociated himself from the endeavour once disturbing claims against the latter surfaced.
The Transformers actor was cast after his departure, and he seems to have great chemistry with Lopez based on the previews. Jennifer Coolidge, Sonia Braga, Selena Tan, Callie Hernandez, D’Arcy Carden, Cheech Marin, and Lenny Kravitz are among the supporting cast members of the film. The film looks funny and is exactly the type of popcorn entertainment that its fans would anticipate, thanks to its all-star ensemble and impressive comedy abilities. The screenplay was written by Mark Hammer (Two Night Stand) and Liz Meriwether, and Moore is in charge of the production (New Girl).
Both Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman of Mandeville Productions are credited as producers. Lopez, along with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, runs a production company called Nuyorican Productions. On January 27th, 2023, the premiere of Shotgun Wedding will air exclusively on Prime Video.
Synopsis
Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) are getting cold feet about getting married, so they decide to call in favours from their loving but highly opinionated families and have the wedding of a lifetime in an exotic location. A hostage situation, as if that weren’t enough to dampen the festivities, puts everyone’s lives in peril. Darcy and Tom must save their families—if they don’t murder each other first—in this humorous, adrenaline-fueled adventure that gives new meaning to the phrase “‘Til death do us part.”
