New “Chucky” Video Mocks Nicole Kidman’s Classic AMC Ad

About a year has passed since Nicole Kidman led us on a… excursion into the experience at an AMC cinema. With lines like “not simply entertained, but strangely reborn – together” and “somehow, sadness feels wonderful in a location like this,” the commercial featuring the Academy Award-winning actress became an instant classic. Even though it’s been a while, it’s evident that this advertisement is still floating about in the minds of parody artists and comedians everywhere.

This past weekend, Chloe Fineman, SNL’s resident impressionist, parodied the commercial on the show by speaking with an Australian accent like the Big Little Lies star and summoning a cult to the theatre. When Chucky, the eponymous doll from the SYFY and USA Network series, parodied himself the next day, SNL had its work cut out for it. There’s a reference to the monthly comic sketch programme in the description, and the footage itself is full of gory details, like the pitter-patter of homicidal doll feet reverberating through the auditorium.

The killer doll provides us with a “made you look moment” by describing being “terrified so much that you pee in your pants,” while the original commercial took us to a happy, safe place where “our heroes seem like the best part of us.” Even while the Good Guys Doll probably won’t be seen on the “dazzling” screens of an AMC again any time soon, he will be featured in the upcoming second season of the show of the same name. This time around, viewers will see Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon Evans (Björgvin Arnarson), and Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind) at a Catholic reformatory school as Chucky (Brad Dourif) causes havoc there.

With just the right amount of scares and laughs, the latest instalment will also feature a slew of subplots starring familiar faces from the Child’s Play universe, such as Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, Fiona Dourif, and Christine Elise, and the return of Devon Sawa as a different character after being killed off twice in the first season. Fans have been waiting since 2004’s Seed of Chucky to see Lachlan Watson as Chucky and Tiffany’s (Tilly) offspring Glen/Glenda, and he does not disappoint.

Meg Tilly, Gina Gershon, Joe Pantoliano, and Sutton Stracke will also appear in the Don Mancini series, making it seem like Tilly is having a dinner party for all of her closest friends and family. You can see Chucky poke fun at an ad featuring Nicole Kidman on AMC, and on October 5, don’t miss the premiere of Season 2 for more shocks and thrills.
