In 2022, Marvel fans have had a lot to eat thanks to movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and TV programmes like Ms Marvel. Even though we’re getting close to the end of the year, Marvel fans still have a lot to look forward to. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the most prominent instance of this. There have been many mysteries surrounding this superhero sequel, but now we finally know how long it will be. AMC Theatres estimates that the full running time of Wakanda Forever, with credits, will be 2 hours and 41 minutes. With a running time of 3 hours and 1 minute, the sequel will be the second-longest Marvel Cinematic Universe film behind Avengers: Endgame.
Wakanda Forever clocks in at a total of 2 hours and 14 minutes, 27 minutes longer than the original Black Panther. Finally, Wakanda Forever will be one of the longest films of 2022. A new Netflix biopic of Marilyn Monroe, Blonde, clocks in at 2 hours and 46 minutes, while one of the year’s biggest successes, Elvis, clocks in at 2 hours and 39 minutes.
So, what does this prolonged silence imply? It’s possible that the scope of this sequel will rival that of the series’ most ambitious entries.
The first trailer gave us a taste of the serious drama in store for the citizens of Wakanda, so the length of the film shouldn’t come as a surprise. This movie not only needs to introduce two key actors into the MCU, but it also has the onerous chore of picking a replacement Black Panther in the aftermath of Chadwick Boseman’s death. Ironheart and Namor (Tenoch Huerta) (Dominique Thorne). Any one of those three plots would make a great movie on its own. In previous Marvel movies, there were too many plots going on at once, and they all got short shrift.
Thor: Love and Thunder had this very serious flaw, and it was the worst part of the movie. Fortunately, Wakanda Forever isn’t limited by a sub-two-hour rule. While a lengthy length isn’t always indicative of greatness, Wakanda Forever certainly deserves to be as long as it is. The movie is an expression of deep admiration for Boseman. His iconic turn as Black Panther was a huge success and a source of inspiration for many. There will only be one chance for Marvel to do it right, and the last thing they want is for this emotionally charged movie to feel hurried. If you’re a true Marvel fanatic, this is great news; if you’re just an ordinary moviegoer, you might want to schedule in a few extra toilet breaks. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens in cinemas on November 11, so there’s still plenty of time to get your bladder in shape.
