Hookup culture and mobile dating applications have revolutionised the dating scene in the digital era. Grace, played by Andrea Bang, is a shy woman who finds this idea terrifying in the forthcoming romantic comedy. Bear with us tonight. As she struggles to find her place in the modern dating world, she meets Carter Stone (Joe Scarpellino), a down-on-his-luck stranger who may be the answer to her prayers. There’s a new trailer out for the film, and it portrays two total strangers finding something unique in each other when everything else in their lives has gone wrong. Initially, Grace is seen in a state of dismay in the trailer. Because she kept to herself, she was passed over for the associate role she had been seeking. In addition, her best friend criticises her dating strategy of getting to know a man just well enough to identify anything she dislikes about him.
Meanwhile, Carter Page is drowning his sorrows at a local watering hole after suffering a devastating relegation in his professional hockey career. After spotting Grace across the bar, he hails her cab and the two quickly hit it off. Grace and Carter are complete opposites from one another, from their favourite bar sitting location to their desired public perception. They had a wonderful evening strolling through the streets of Toronto, talking, and taking in everything that the city has to offer. Carter takes her skating, they have a few drinks at Grace’s place, and Grace gives him some encouraging words as he considers his future in hockey.
Even if things don’t always go well between them, Grace and Carter end up meeting the next day and sharing a nice hug since they’re such a fantastic match. Bang, who co-starred in Kim’s Convenience with Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jean Yoon, and Simu Liu, and director Renuka Jeyapalan, who oversaw 13 episodes of the comedy, all reunite in Stay the Night. It premiered at SXSW this year to positive reviews and is Jeyapalan’s first film.
Only eight reviews are presently available, but thus far the movie has received a 75% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The film stars Bang and Scarpellino as the leads, with Humberly González and Raymond Ablack as the supporting cast. Jeyapalan not only wrote and directed but also acted as executive producer alongside producers Brian Robertson and Glenn Cockburn.
On October 7th, Stay the Night will be released.
