Kiki Layne, one of the film’s numerous actors, has said that the majority of the scenes she recorded with co-star Ari’el Stachel were omitted. The film, directed by Olivia Wilde, premiered in theatres throughout the United States this past weekend and immediately made a commotion. Layne said that most of the sequences she shot with Stachel for the film were cut in a post she made to her Instagram account celebrating the film’s premiere. “Layne captioned a video of her and Stachel from the set of Don’t Worry Darling, writing, “They cut us from much of the movie, but we thrive in real life.” These words were followed by the hashtags “#GotMyCheck,” “#GotMyMan,” and “#EverythingHappensforaReason.” Layne, who plays Margaret Watkins, said in the same tweet that she had fun filming the movie: “The best thing about #Don’tWorryDarling is that I was lucky enough to meet @arielstachel…” 3 You, Ari.
Neither Stachel nor Layne elaborated on the deleted sequences, although Stachel did post an Instagram tribute to Layne. As previously disclosed by Deadline, Stachel, who plays Layne’s husband Ted, captioned a sequence of photographs of himself on set with Layne with, “My favourite part of my experience in Don’t Worry Darling. This woman did fantastic work and I was thirsty the second I met her.” Layne reacted to the comment with, “Love you. Grateful that God brought us together here.” Layne’s admission that many of her sequences were chopped is not the first controversy to emerge from the picture, which opened in American theatres on September 23 and has already taken in $30 million globally.
After Florence Pugh, who plays Alice Chambers, did not show up to a press conference held before the film’s opening night at the 2022 Venice Film Festival, rumours began circulating earlier this month that she and Wilde, who stars as Bunny and directs the film, had a tense working relationship. Despite rumours to the contrary, Wilde praised Pugh’s performance and denied any animosity between the two on set. This followed controversy over Harry Styles’ reported spitting on Chris Pine (Frank) during the movie’s premiere. Before all this happened, Shia LaBeouf, who was supposed to play Style’s character Jack Chambers, said he had not been sacked from the movie despite Wilde’s claim that she had fired him.
Despite all the rumours and turmoil, the film has reportedly made $19.2 million in the US and another $10.8 million in other countries. The script for the psychological thriller Doesn’t Worry Darling was written by Katie Silberman, while the film’s story was conceived by Carey Van Dyke and Shane Van Dyke. The story follows young couple Alice (Pugh) and Jack Chambers (Styles) as they make their home in the 1950s California suburb of Victory. However, Alice quickly learns that something is really wrong with her husband’s firm and that it is harbouring some very terrible secrets. Dita Von Teese, Asif Ali, Douglas Smith, Timothy Simons, and Kate Berlant all have roles in the film.
Keep Calm The film Darling has recently opened in theatres all throughout the United States.
