Gal Gadot’s appetite for suspenseful Netflix originals must have been whetted by the Red Notice because the Wonder Woman heroine is set to return to the streaming service in the upcoming spy thriller Heart of Stone, in which she plays the lead role of Rachel Stone, a CIA agent who runs on adrenaline. Not exactly a trailer, the new teaser was released during Netflix’s annual TUDUM event and gave fans a taste of what to expect from Gadot, Jamie Doran, and Alia Bhatt. In the brief clip, Gadot provides some background on her character Rachel Stone, discussing her motivations, relationships, and even a taste of the epic action that will be included in the film.
Gadot’s Stone doesn’t give away much about Dornan and Bhatt, but it’s evident that they play a significant role in the exciting narrative. Gadot claims that the movie will be “epic” while also being “grounded and honest,” and the trailers back her up on that claim. British director Tom Harper, known for his work on Peaky Blinders, Misfits, and the celebrated version of War & Peace, helms Heart of Stone, written by Greg Rucka and Allison Schroeder. Bhatt, who comes from the famous and wildly successful Bhatt family of Bollywood, will make her American debut with Heart of Stone.
Others in the cast besides Bhatt and Dornan include Sophie Okonedo, Matthias Schweighöfer, Jing Lusi, and Paul Ready. Since one of Dornan’s most memorable episodes of Once Upon a Time, “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter,” was given that title, his fans could find some amusement in his starring in another production named “Heart is Something.” Gadot is due to feature as the Evil Queen in Disney’s next Snow White live-action film, so hopefully, no one crushes his heart in the Heart of Stone. The trailer suggests Dornan is collaborating with Gadot’s CIA operative, but, as is customary in the genre, there will still be plenty of betrayal and tension. Heart of Stone has not yet been given a firm release date for 2023.
