The release date and cast for Michael Giacchino’s next Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ special, Werewolf by Night, have finally been revealed as Halloween approaches. There’s no need to stay glued to your seat for as long as Avengers: Endgame because the official duration of the special, which is scheduled for distribution on the streaming service on October 7, has been announced. The official length of the movie was announced to be 52 minutes and 37 seconds. Although the MCU has dabbled in short films before with the MCU One-Shots, the studio’s latest efforts have mostly focused on full-length features and the original series for Disney+.
While Disney’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be the MCU’s first holiday special proper, it won’t be the last. Although Giacchino has directed several short films in the past, Werewolf by Night is his first “feature-length” (as defined by the Academy) film. Giacchino has written music for a wide variety of films, including the Mission: Impossible series, the Jurassic World trilogy, the latest Star Trek series, and War for the Planet of the Apes. Over the years, Giacchino has also become an integral part of the Disney organisation.
He has scored a number of Pixar movies and has become a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) musical landscape with his work on Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange and Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy. Werewolf by Night’s director and composer, Michael Giacchino, has an impressively full schedule, what with four other feature films coming out this year (The Batman, Jurassic World Dominion, Lightyear and Thor: Love and Thunder). Casting for Werewolf by Night, starring Gael Garca Bernal as Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night, Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone, and Harriet Sansom Harris as Verusa, was revealed at this year’s D23 expo.
Pete Cameron (Moon Knight) and Heather Quinn (Hawkeye), both seasoned veterans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, joined Giacchino on the screen to help write the picture. The film’s cinematographer was Westworld’s Zo White. The latest teaser showcased the film’s unsettling black-and-white style, which is reminiscent of the Universal Classic Monsters flicks. The October 7th streaming release date has been set for Werewolf by Night.
