Anthony Mackie wants his own fight in an elevator in the upcoming “Captain America: New World Order”

While serving as our new Captain America, Anthony Mackie hopes to take part in some exciting high-octave action. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) reluctantly accepted his role as The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and surrendered the shield to his buddy Sam Wilson. Now, in the standalone film Captain America: New World Order, he’ll carry on the heritage of that shield in a way that, according to the filmmakers, will test Sam Wilson to his very limits.

Mackie stated in a recent interview with E! that one of his goals for the duration of his contract is to film an action sequence on par with the elevator battle seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which starred Chris Evans. Steve Rogers’ enhanced IQ, superhuman strength, speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes were all side effects of the Super Soldier Serum. He pushed the limits with his own kind of combat that incorporates elements of karate, judo, jiu-jitsu, tae kwon do, and aikido.

Combining elements of Muay Thai, Karate, Savate, and Wing Chun, he perfected his fighting style. One of the more memorable scenes in MCU annals is the brawl in the elevator. This scene is a showcase for Rogers’ talents and was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who also star in the film. In this fight, Evans uses a variety of these strategies to defeat around ten STRIKE agents on his own. Mackie has given us some fantastic aerial action sequences as Falcon, but he has revealed his wish by saying, “I want a fight scene that surpasses Chris Evans’ battle scene in the elevator [in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier].” Adding, “When ten or more men fought him in an elevator. What a badass scene. When I first encountered that, I thought, “That’s insane.” In short, I’m hoping for a combat sequence on par with that one.” In the opening scene of the Disney+ series, we get a taste of Sam’s newfound prowess in the air thanks to his wings, which allow him to reach speeds greater than that of a jet while maintaining a high degree of agility.

With the wings and the ability to fly, his strength is greatly increased, and the goggles give him heightened eyesight. Not only is he a master of acrobatics, strategy, and hand-to-hand fighting, but he also has a background in the military. Although we had a peek at Sam’s potential as Captain America in the closing moments of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we have yet to see his full extent. The release date for Captain America: New World Order is set for 2024.
