The new Halloween Ends commercial teaches us one important lesson: when hiding from The Shape in a small room, it’s best if there is no ambient noise. The short shows Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) forgetting about Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in a hidden location, and the two eventually make up. Michael is alerted to the possible presence of his target by the repetitive tapping of a blind lift rope on a window behind her. During this time, a voiceover shows Laurie trash-talking her long-standing rival, Michael, assuring her pursuer that Michael is “just a man who’s ready to quit living.” Laurie decides to take matters into her own hands and breaks free, leading to a fight between the two old adversaries.
There are a lot of new videos shown during Laurie’s speech, including a brief glimpse of her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) at a busy nightclub, looking worried. That Michael is implying he will be breaking it down on the floor is terrifying to think about. With the arrival of October, the anticipation for Halloween Ends, which premieres in theatres and on Peacock on October 14th, has reached fever pitch. In the third instalment of David Gordon Green’s trilogy, Laurie Strode and her vicious stalker Michael Myers will have their ultimate knock-down, drag-out combat. It has been four years after Michael’s unrelenting, knife-wielding rampage in Halloween Kills, in which the town of Haddonfield, Illinois, was utterly destroyed. Laurie and Allyson have settled into a peaceful routine ever since.
Since that terrible night, no one has seen or heard The Shape, and Laurie is attempting to go on with her life, even writing a biography about it. Shortly, though, a local adolescent (Rohan Campbell) is suspected of killing a child he was babysitting, sending the community into a frenzy once more. Under this ominous pall of disarray and anarchy, Michael will return to face Laurie in a showdown from which only one will emerge victorious. Will Patton, who played Deputy Frank Hawkins in the first two films, and Kyle Richards are also set to return. Curtis, Courtney, and Matichak are all set to return. Richards is well-known among series devotees for her role as babysitter Lindsey Wallace in the 1978 John Carpenter picture. Richards, who is most known for her 12-year (and counting!) reign on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, returns for the last film in Green’s trilogy after repeating her role (and her bangs) in last year’s Halloween Kills.
