Stolen Kingdom is a documentary on the raucous past of Walt Disney World Resort that will be produced by Jeff Tremaine, a frequent Jackass collaborator. With previous directing credits like Jackass: The Movie, Jackass Number Two, and Jackass 3D, Tremaine is no stranger to hedonism. Their first feature picture, Stolen Kingdom, is being directed by Joshua Bailey and Sam Fraser. ‘Bad Things Happen At The Happiest Place On Earth’ reads the title treatment for the next documentary.
Newspaper clippings are shown on a black and red backdrop in the title treatment, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Over the course of 30 years, Stolen Kingdom will investigate the wild antics that have taken place at Walt Disney World Resort, including the theft of a priceless audio-animatronic from the long-defunct Cranium Command ride. The artificial intelligence eventually became up for sale on the dark web for about $500,000 USD. In his own words, Tremaine explained how he became involved with the project: “Josh and Sam approached me and introduced me to this subject I found so interesting. Both the plot and the filmmakers’ youthful enthusiasm moved me. I’m psyched to be a part of it since I’ve participated in some questionable activities at Disneyland in the past. Stolen Kingdom is being produced under Tremaine’s own Gorilla Flicks label.
Tremaine’s executive producing work on the documentary film Bad Axe has paved the way for his recent success as a producer. A family of Asian descent in Trump’s America in the year 2020 is the focus of Bad Axe. The film is presently the most acclaimed documentary of 2022, having received the Audience Award at SXSW this year. Jackass, the original TV series, was developed by Tremaine, Spike Jonze, and Johnny Knoxville, and ran for three seasons on MTV in the early 2000s.
The filmmaker also made numerous cameo appearances in the show as himself. Tremaine stayed true to form by taking on the role of executive producer on a number of reality TV series that included extreme sports or stunts, such as Ridiculousness, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, Nitro Circus, and Loiter Squad. Tremaine has also directed Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa and The Dirt, a biopic of Mötley Crüe available on Netflix. The former Jackass star will be featured in the upcoming documentary The Brandon Novak Story and will also direct the upcoming sixth season of The Eric Andre Show.
There is no set date for the release of Stolen Kingdom at this time.
