The British are in for a treat, and the rest of us might want to get our passports ready and book a journey to London to see Bram Stoker’s Dracula back on the stage. Yes, the legendary Francis Ford Coppola film is returning to cinemas for Halloween, but only in a few locations across the world and across the pond. This news comes just in time for the October 4th, 2018 release of the film’s 30th-anniversary edition in the United States on 4K UHD in a brand new SteelBook case.
The 4K remastered picture will be shown by Park Circus commencing October 7 in theatres throughout the globe. Gary Oldman played the vampire in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which also starred Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, and Keanu Reeves. It is widely considered to be among the best adaptations of the Dracula narrative. The picture was an immediate classic thanks to its stunning graphics, outstanding acting, and the compelling storyline written by James V. Hart.
The film would go on to get four Oscar nods, ultimately winning for Best Costume Design, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Makeup. In the 1992 film, Oldman played the title character, Count Dracula, the fabled prince turned vampire who is doomed to wander the world as an undead beast who feeds exclusively on the blood of the living.
The vampire takes on more than he can handle when he meets Jonathan Harker (Reeves), a lawyer who intends to settle a property transaction with the ancient Count and finds a portrait of Harker’s cherished fiancĂ©e Mina (Ryder), who has an eerie resemblance to his long-departed wife. Dracula, consumed with fury and passion, ensnares Harker and embarks on a bloody mission to find Mina and turn her into his zombie wife. Fans in Los Angeles may see Dracula at The Los Angeles Theatre on Saturday, October 29 as part of Cinespia’s October roster of frightening flicks, in addition to its revised SteelBook release and reemergence in 150+ theatres across the U.K. and Ireland.
The Thing and Carrie will also screen during the month-long celebration. This Halloween, you can catch a screening of Bram Stoker’s Dracula anywhere from the comfort of your own home to a movie theatre on the other side of the planet. Park Circus’s website has a complete rundown of where you may see the film.
