The forthcoming thriller Valiant One from Monarch Media has added numerous performers to its roster, and shooting is set to begin later this month in Vancouver. After their chopper crashes into North Korea, a squad of combat troops must try to defend a civilian IT specialist. As Selby, a medical specialist who enlists in the U.S. military after becoming a citizen, Valiant One stars Lana Condor, well known for her portrayal as Lara Jean in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series. Desmin Borges, most recently seen in The Time Traveler’s Wife, also joins the cast as Josh Weaver, a confident yet savvy civilian defence contractor.
In addition to Condor and Borges, the film will also include Callan Mulvey, who starred in The Gray Man, in the role of Chris Lebold, a Delta Operative who stays a solid team leader despite the difficulties his team faces. Valiant One has a strong ensemble cast and an intriguing idea, so genre aficionados should keep an eye out for its release. Chase Stokes (Outer Banks) was already known to be linked to the picture, and these new actors will join him in the roles. For Steve Barnett, Valiant One is his first opportunity to direct a full-length film. The next film, which is based on a concept by Barnett, will be written by Eric Tipton.
Barnett not only helms the picture but also produces it alongside Bernie Goldmann and Alan Powell of Monarch. Vicky L. Patel, of Monarch, will also serve as an executive producer on the project. As well as the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before films, Condor’s acting credits include the X-Men: Apocalypse film as Jubilee and the cyberpunk masterpiece Alita: Battle Angel in the role of Koyomi. With John Cena (Peacemaker) and Will Forte (Valiant One), Condor will also feature in Coyote vs. Acme, based on the legendary Looney Tunes character (MacGruber).
Borges, now a regular on the comedy series Welcome to Flatch, will also make an appearance in the upcoming comedy-action picture Shotgun Wedding, produced by Amazon Studios and starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel. Mulvey has been cast as the lead in the forthcoming Paramount+ series Last King of the Cross. We still don’t have a release date for Valiant One, as filming isn’t slated to begin until later this month.
