Although Hunter X Hunter hasn’t been updated since 2018, developer Yoshihiro Togashi has been slowly but surely teasing his comeback with Twitter excerpts from the text since May. Shounen Jump has chosen to publish the final uncompelled chapters of the original Manga on 4 November 2022, in advance of the publication of new chapters. The book will cost 528 yen, or around $4. This is more evidence that the serialisation of Hunter X Hunter is returning in due time. Togashi’s own recent tweets in support of this claim described the present state of things with regard to chapters (399 and 400) and his plans to recruit additional people to make things smoother and more streamlined.
Togashi is now drafting these chapters and sending out requests to the members of his team he has designated as to how he would like them to turn out. In addition, he tells Weekly Shounen Jump that he has finished rough draughts for ten additional chapters. However, it should be remembered that the author is still dealing with a number of health issues at now. In an earlier statement for the Art Exhibition, he acknowledged that he had significant back pain for two years and was unable to sit in a chair.
However, he has since discovered a posture that allows him to sketch and is steadily working toward ending the five-year break. The plot is meant to be a sequel to the events of the dark continent arc, and more specifically the Succession Contest arc, in which fourteen princes of the Kakin Empire and their supporting criminal organisations compete for control of the empire. Fans may expect at least 20 more chapters by the end of the year since Togashi has already confirmed he began working on the next set of chapters back in July.
After November’s volume publication, the author may certify the return of the serialisation by updating his online progress report. Since the tweet is just from the Japanese Shounen Jump account at the moment, it is also unknown if the volume will later be accessible for worldwide distribution or not.
