Director Ryan Coogler unveiled fresh new exclusive footage, shot on location in Wakanda, of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at this year’s D23 Expo, as part of the Marvel segment of the studio showcase. More information about the new Black Panther is revealed, and we get our first glimpse at Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams soaring through the air in her own arc-reactor-powered suit of armour, all thanks to the trailer. Ironheart, the second Marvel property we heard about in the hall at D23, was introduced after the introduction of her costume, which served as the ideal segue. Coogler, who is also producing Ironheart, surprised the crowd with the premiere of the first clip, despite the fact that the show is reportedly just halfway through production, as stated by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
Nonetheless, we received what appears to be quite comprehensive footage in an intriguing teaser video, which shows Riri Williams back in the United States and in the midst of developing an armoured suit so advanced that it might make Iron Man’s armour look like an action figure. She is questioned by Anthony Ramos’s character, who appears to be a friend of Williams, but who also warns her that she may be compelled to do horrible things for a good cause. In the last moments of the clip, Ramos dons a crimson cowl and uses an unknown form of magic to quickly dispose of some onlookers. Ramos’ character is revealed to be The Hood, a famous villain from Marvel Comics and one of the few criminal masterminds to construct a street-level empire that even the great Wilson Fisk would be jealous of after the trailer had already been released.
Then Ramos himself was brought up on stage to elaborate on his role. Due to the lack of in-depth depictions of conflicts pitting technology against magic in the MCU thus far, the three on stage stated that they were eager to investigate such an arena. Beginning in 2023, Ironheart will soar onto Disney+.
