Recap of TBATE Chapter 158
After regaining consciousness at the end of The Beginning, Arthur had asked Myre if he was still in Ephiotus. She claims she could have healed him more quickly using Mana, but that doing so may have altered his skeletal structure. When Arthur finds out he has been resting for two days, he gets up to go do something, but Myre makes him stay in bed. Arthur chooses to meditate in order to speed up his recovery, but as he does so, something within him begins to glow, and he begins to see particles of various colours and patterns of gold covering the space around and within him.
The purple particles were previously invisible to Arthur, but he has now noticed them. Myre goes on to boast that he is now the legal owner of Realmheart. Myra goes on to say that only those of the Indrath lineage are capable of Realmheart and that by entering this condition, one develops a profound affinity with the material world. The ability does not grant physical strength, but it does grant access to vast amounts of information. Next, Myre wheels Arthur outside for a stroll. According to her, everyone takes in the corresponding Mana from the environment according to the element to which they are most naturally drawn. Myre goes on to explain how a Mage who favours the water element will struggle to cast a fireball.
However, firing a water cannon would be simple for them to do. She presses Arthur for more, and he explains that Aether is related to time travel. Myre says that although Aether serves as the world’s framework, Mana provides its nutrition and vitality. It follows that the purple particle Arthur observed after triggering Realmheart must have been Aether. Myre also explains that Aether is made up of three elements—Aevum, Spatium, and Vuvum—to him. No matter how hard they train, she argues, a practitioner can only become proficient in one of these modalities. Over time, though, they’ve uncovered a method for some Asuras to determine their particular area of aptitude. While Arthur is wondering how they manage it, Myre begins to change, acquiring the same golden pattern as before. She says the runes that manifest on the skin after activating the Realmheart make it feasible.
