According to today’s issue of Variety, John Malkovich’s co-star on Homeland, Rupert Friend, will also be appearing in the forthcoming biopic The Yellow Tie. Friend will play a younger Sergiu Celibidache in the film, while Malkovich will portray the elder version of the prominent Romanian conductor in the film. Celibidache is widely regarded as one of the 20th century’s finest conductors. He started his music lessons at an early age. The elder Celibidache had hoped that his son would go into politics and so had sent him to school in France, but instead, the young man’s interest in music flourished there. Sometime later, he moved to Berlin to further his musical education.
Celibidache was given the opportunity to lead the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra after he had survived the horrors of the war, and he did so for seven years. Over the course of his career, he would also direct a number of European orchestras, including the illustrious Munich Philharmonic. His unwillingness to have his performances recorded and marketed commercially, his conversion to Zen Buddhism and his public resistance to the Romanian government are additional noteworthy events in his life narrative. A friend is a well-known actor who has been nominated for an Emmy for his roles in shows like Anatomy of a Scandal and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. A friend has worked with Wes Anderson on several occasions, and may next be seen in the director’s upcoming projects The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Asteroid City.
In addition to his work in Pride & Prejudice, Pride & Prejudice: The Collection, and The Young Victoria, he has also been in the critically acclaimed film The Death of Stalin.
Friend stated this about his casting with Malkovich in the film: It is a huge honour for me to be reuniting with one of our finest performers, John. I’m thrilled to be adapting Sergiu Celibidachi’s life story for the big screen, and it’s a pleasure to share that duty with him.
Serge Ioan Celebidachi, Celebidachi senior’s son and a director who has mostly worked in documentaries, will helm The Yellow Tie.
Among these was Sergiu Celibidache’s Garden, a documentary on his late father that came out a year after his death. Also, he has directed several narrative features in French, including Octav, Edward & Lulu, and. An aggressive rebuke. Celebidachi and James Oliver co-wrote the novel The Yellow Tie. The two collaborate frequently, having written the aforementioned three films together. The Yellow Tie has recruited Robert W. Cort to serve as executive producer. Adela Vrinceanu Celebidachi, Cristina Dobritoiu, Andrei Boncea, Christopher Milburn, and Olivier are on board as producers. The movie will start shooting in Romania in 2023.
