As of late, spoilers and raw scans for Black Clover Chapter 337 have been released, revealing the identity of the man seen at the close of the previous issue. New spoilers and raw scans reveal that Yami’s boyhood pal in Hino Country is the country’s shogun, Ryuudou Ryuuya. The man’s identity and his relationship with Yami are not revealed in Black Clover Chapter 337. Fans are debating whether or not the man (described in spoilers as looking like Yami) is connected to the Black Bulls’ captain, following the debunking of an inaccurate “Asta’s father” idea. An initial consensus among readers has the new character introduced in Chapter 337 of Black Clover is Yami Sukehiro’s sibling.
Reasons to believe a Sukehiro will become shogun of Hino Country
As soon as the purported raw scans of Black Clover Chapter 337 began to circulate, readers began identifying Ryuuya as Sukehiro. The chapter’s narrator notes that he and Yami have many physical and behavioural characteristics. Ryuuya’s solemn expression, in which he made it clear to Asta that he would lose in the Clover Kingdom if he returned at this time, was reminiscent of Yami’s. Right now, every aspect of him is a dead ringer for Yami, from his words to his serious bluntness to his looks.
Asta adds that he thinks Yami and Ryuuya’s Ki are quite similar, which is another evidence that they are related by blood. In previous issues, mangaka Yuki Tabata has shown that Asta can easily tell the difference between Lucius’ Ki and Julius’ Ki, thus this tease seems very purposeful on her side. When put in the context of Ryuuya insisting that Asta have a power-up right now, the two have very similar outlooks. This is in line with Yami’s encouragement to the Black Bulls to “go beyond.” One possible interpretation of such an incident is as a tease for a later-revealed relationship between the two.
If Yami does have a relative named Ryuuya, then it’s probable that he’s either Yami’s elder or younger brother. They look to be about the same age, with Yami being noticeably bigger and more muscular than his counterpart. Ryuuya isn’t little, but he isn’t quite as large as the Black Bulls’ captain. If Ryuuya is indeed Yami’s biological father, Tabata will need to explain the striking similarity between their ages. Despite the fact that Yami is just 28, meaning Ryuuya and his wife may have fathered him when they were relatively young, the parallels in their ages still appear too close to sensibly pursue this avenue.
Ryuuya’s familiarity with Yami and his resemblance to the Captain might point to their shared ancestry as cousins, which would also explain why Ryuuya didn’t announce himself as the Captain’s kin. If Yami is any indication, the Sukehiro family has its own unique traditions and customs, which runs counter to the more common Japanese value of family above individual. After Chapter 337 of Black Clover, however, all of this remains nothing more than supposition, albeit a fair one. Many readers expect to learn Ryuuya’s actual identity in the next few issues, but that won’t happen in the next chapter.
