In honour of Thor: Love and Thunder, the God of Thunder’s upcoming adventure, which will debut on Disney+ this Thursday, the streaming service have released a new featurette that looks back at the character’s ten-year run in the MCU. Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor Odinson, hints that the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not be finished with him just yet in a new video by saying that the film Love and Thunder is like a second chance for the character. This new short uses clips from Love and Thunder to give viewers a glimpse of the production process for some Marvel Cinematic Universe magic.
Love and Thunder’s skilled crew really constructed hundreds of New Asgard’s wooden dwellings, so viewers can see the massive set Marvel Studios erected for the film. In the meanwhile, Hemsworth discusses Thor’s evolution throughout the course of the hero’s ten-film adventure. Based on this interpretation, Love and Thunder might be seen as Thor’s “rebirth” after the devastating events of Avengers: Endgame. In the new special feature, Natalie Portman is given the opportunity to express her joy about rejoining the series and donning the mantle of Mighty Thor. Jane earns Mjölnir’s trust and respect in Love and Thunder, and as a result, she gains the power of a Thunder Goddess.
Portman expresses her joy at working alongside Hemsworth in the new video, describing how they wore matching superhero capes and fought alongside one another to defeat the God Butcher, Gorr (Christian Bale). Portman and Hemsworth also took time to gush about Taika Waititi, the film’s director, praising his upbeat attitude and ability to foster a happy working environment on set. Waititi emphasises in the video how the film’s brilliant and colourful style, ideal for a cosmic voyage, came about because he wasn’t afraid to “be flamboyant and a bit camp” with it. Returning from the first film are Tessa Thompson as King Valkyrie, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket.
Additionally, Russell Crowe makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Zeus, the Greek God of Thunder. Love and Thunder is a film that Waititi co-wrote and directed with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. As part of Disney Plus Day on September 8, Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere on Disney+. On September 27th, you can buy the film in Ultra HD 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD.
