In Berlin, Nobody, up-and-comer Sadie Sink will play a major role. Actor Eric Bana is joined by the Stranger Things star in this thriller set in Germany. The forthcoming film is based on the 2015 novel Tokyo by Nicholas Hogg, although as the title suggests, the action now takes place in Berlin. As reported by Deadline, Sink will have a key role in the next Jordan Scott movie. She’ll portray Mazzy Monroe, Ben Monroe’s (Bana) daughter, a sociologist who follows him to Berlin so he may research cults. Mazzy, whose father is becoming increasingly absorbed in his studies, befriends a mysterious local youngster (Jonas Dassler).
Additional starring roles are played by Sylvia Hoeks and Sophie Rois. Kiernan Shipka, who was confirmed for the role of Mazzy back in January, has now left the production, making way for Sink to take the job. The fourth season of Stranger Things gave Sink’s character, Max, her biggest part yet, and she is already garnering praise for her performance as Brendan Fraser’s daughter in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, which had its world debut at the Venice Film Festival this past week.
To see her in her next role, check out the forthcoming drama, Dear Zoe. Scott’s first film, the psychological thriller Cracks (2011), starring Eva Green and Juno Temple, is her second movie. She has directed major advertising campaigns for brands like Prada, Land Rover, and Nike, and she is also a skilled photographer. The ecological thriller Blueback, starring Australian actor Bana, will have its world debut at this month’s Toronto International Film Festival. Bana is best known for his key performances in the films Hulk, Troy, and Munich.
Dutch actor Hoeks is most known to American audiences for Blade Runner 2049, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and the Apple+ series See, while German stage actor Dassler had a breakout cinema performance as serial murderer Fritz Honka in 2019’s The Golden Glove. Rois, an Austrian actor, had roles in both “Enemy at the Gates” and “Barbarians” on Netflix.
Berlin Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo will produce for Augenschein Filmproduktion, while Scott’s father, renowned filmmaker Ridley Scott, and Michael Pruss produce Nobody for their business Scott Free Productions.
Additionally, Georgina Pope will produce with Jonathan Saubach of Augenschein in the executive producer role. They worked together on the German survival thriller The Dive, and now Augenschein and Protagonist Pictures are managing foreign sales for the picture. Berlin location filming Nothing new starts today in Berlin.
