Incredible respect was shown between Ainz and Prince Zanac in Season 4 Episode 10 of Overlord, only for Ainz to explode in rage at the episode’s conclusion. At the same time, we dug even deeper into the mystery of the adamantite explorers. This episode was effective in depicting the conditions under which a person might conduct war and how, from a certain vantage point, their activities can look extremely contradictory. Ainz may make up illogical justifications for his harsh behaviour, but it’s not far off to compare his statements to those of actual global leaders.
In episode 10 of Season 4 of Overlord, Ainz reveals his more human side
Episode 10 of Overlord season 4 is titled “The final king,” and it begins with Ainz rehashing his lengthy explanation of how he predicted the arrival of the Red Drop member to protect the town. When the opportunity presented itself, Ainz made good on his word to Pestonya. He shifted the focus of the conflict to the capital, allowing the remaining citizens of the destroyed cities to flee. Meanwhile, in Re-Estize, Princess Renner is pressing Prince Zanac for information on where their absent father, King Ramposa III, could be. Zanac, disapproving of his father’s behaviour, had him imprisoned until he was ready to challenge the Sorcerer Kingdom. And they spoke about how Marquis Raeven may have helped the Sorcerer Kingdom sneak about undetected. Simultaneously, we witnessed a gathering of three intrepid adventurer organisations.
Blue Rose members, Red Drop chief Azuth Aindra, and representatives from Theocracy’s elite Black Scripture team gathered together. Black Scripture orchestrated the get-together to spy on Red Drop and Blue Rose members. In an effort to save mankind, they planned to destroy the Sorcerer Kingdom. Red Drop and Blue Rose, however, immediately turned down the offer in favour of staying behind to protect their realm. Ainz and Prince Zanac had one last conversation before the fight between the Re-Estize and Sorcerer kingdoms began. Ainz decides to meet with Prince Zanac because he fears that rejecting the proposition would lead to negative publicity for the kingdom. After they exchanged pleasantries, Zanac questioned Ainz on why the Sorcerer Kingdom wouldn’t accept their surrender and the reasoning for his brutality.
Ainz informed him that he wanted the tale of the destruction of the Re-Estize Country to be remembered for years to come so that no other kingdom would ever attempt to cross them again. Ainz explained that he wanted to be happy, and if it meant benefiting from the suffering of someone they didn’t like, then it was only right for him to pursue pleasure for himself and his loved ones in whatever way he could. Zanac could see where Ainz was coming from with his refusal to accept their capitulation. Ainz only enquired of Zanac as to the location of Gazef Stronoff’s blade. After discovering that Brain Unglaus had it, Ainz consented to Zanac’s plan to end the conflict with minimal suffering for the Re-Estize Kingdom’s troops. Zanac inquired of Ainz about the well-being of his brother just before the two men left the company. Ainz said that maybe one of his own was responsible for his death. After returning to his tent, Prince Zanac was met by rebels. The rulers of the Sorcerer Kingdom demanded that he step down and submit.
But he had already made an attempt, and that plan was now hopeless. To show their loyalty to the Sorcerer Kingdom, the nobles resolve to have Prince Zanac beheaded and then take him to Ainz to plead for forgiveness on behalf of their families. Ainz, horrified by the sight of Zanac’s severed head, politely requested that Albedo disposes of it. In response to the aristocrats’ pleading, he requested that Albedo bring them to the Neurons. Before they departed, Ainz had asked Aura to relay a message to the Neurons, asking him to spare their lives unless they specifically requested it. If they plead, he added angrily, murder them slowly. Since Ainz had lost interest in the fight, he had appointed Cocytus as Commander and Mare as Vice-Commander, giving them carte blanche to utilise their superior numbers and firepower to wipe out the whole planet.
Ainz’s humanity is beautifully depicted in Overlord Season 4, Episode 10. After their conversation, he treated Prince Zanac with royal deference and looked forward to their upcoming conflict. Ainz, meanwhile, was enraged by the nobility’s execution of Zanac. This realisation led him to yearn for his enemies’ complete destruction rather than spare them by using gentler spells. Meanwhile, the Black Scriptures have begun their search for heroes to help them defeat the Sorcerer Kingdom. This bodes well as a potential future story element. Meanwhile, Ainz must determine where the Red Drop member got the Yggdrasil fighting gear. However, these mysteries may be solved in upcoming episodes. On September 13, 2022, the eleventh episode of Season 4 of Overlord will premiere.
