According to Deadline’s story, the cast of Paramount+’s forthcoming drama The Burning Girls has been revealed. The film will feature Ruby Stokes of Bridgerton and two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton in a drama based on the same name by C.J. Tudor, in 2021. Initial production is expected to start this week. The series will centre on a minister, Jack Brooks (Morton), and his daughter Flo as they settle into a new community (Stokes). The two are searching for a fresh start, but they soon learn that the town has a murky past and many deadly secrets.
Stokes’ protagonist is a rebellious adolescent, whereas Morton’s is a single mother plagued by the past. Films like Minority Report, In America, and Synecdoche, New York are among of Morton’s most well-known works. The next Darren Aronofsky picture The Whale, co-starring Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink was a smashing success at the Venice Film Festival, and she will play a major role in it. She first gained widespread attention as the much-anticipated villain Alpha on The Walking Dead, and she later repeated the character on the spin-off series Tales of the Walking Dead.
She also has a starring role in a new Starz series called The Serpent Queen that comes later this month. As a member of the Bridgerton family in the popular Netflix romantic drama, Stokes is perhaps most recognised for her supporting role. However, she has since left the show to star in Lockwood & Co., also on Netflix and based on a series of books written for young adults by Jonathan Stroud.
She will also have a prominent role in the forthcoming movie Black Dog. Conrad Khan, Rupert Graves, Elodie Grace Orkin, Janie Dee, David Dawson, Paul Bradley, Jane Lapotaire, Jack Roth, Mollie Holder, Safia Oakley-Green, Beth Cordingly, and John Macmillian will all appear with Morton and Stokes in The Burning Girls. Buccaneer Media, located in the United Kingdom, is responsible for creating the show. In the United Kingdom, they are responsible for the production of the popular crime drama Marcella.
Here’s what Tony Wood, CEO of Buccaneer Media, had to say about the forthcoming show:
Production on The Burning Girls begins this week, and we couldn’t be happier with the cast.
The Buring Girls has yet to have a release date, but when it does, it will likely premiere exclusively on Paramount+.
