Everyone needs more Sopranos Funkos, and the latest batch is based on the critically acclaimed HBO series. TV Insider provided an exclusive first look at Tony, Carmela, and the rest of the cast as Funko action figures. Both a rendition of Tony Soprano wearing his favourite printed shirt and one of him in his robe with the ducks he so enjoyed feeding is included in the entire set. E Street Band member Steven Van Zandt, who played Silvio Dante, and Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher Moltisanti, are also included in the Funko collection, as is Paulie in his signature tracksuits (played by the late great Tony Sirico). You can pre-order the set today for $11.99 through EntertainmentEarth.com.
In other words, who wouldn’t want this as their ideal little setup for watching HBO every night? From 1999 until 2007, The Sopranos was a Sunday night must-watch for many families. These Funkos being released 15 years after the show finished is another proof of The Sopranos’ enduring popularity. Tony Soprano, portrayed by James Gandolfini, was an Italian American mobster who struggled to maintain a happy home life while leading the powerful Soprano crime family. In addition, Tony’s panic attacks and subsequent treatment sessions are explored throughout the series. Its innovative take on the criminal genre ensured its place in the annals of pop culture, where it has remained a fixture to this day.
Since then, we’ve lost stars like Gandolfini, who made Tony Soprano come alive, and Sirico, who was a beloved member of the comedy community. How cool would it be to add Paulie to your collection besides Tony? It’s a natural fit. Even if Funko were to make a whole line of Edie Falco characters (or simply a line of Carmela’s looks), they would likely sell well. There are still some characters that have yet to be represented in The Sopranos series of Funkos, and I have no doubt that Drea de Matteo’s Adriana La Cerva would be snapped up immediately if she were released. There’s a duck and a Tony Soprano action figure in here that you absolutely must have if you want the collection to be complete. If you’re a real Sopranos fan, you need Tony’s robe.
