The 4th season of the anime series Attack on Titan is presently airing, despite the fact that the show didn’t premiere until 2013. This is because the show’s production has been repeatedly delayed. As a first point of reference, the second season premiered about four years after the first. Some viewers suspect that financial gain was the major purpose for the extended delay between episodes, despite the fact that the show’s production firm, Wit Studio, never addressed the issue. From then on, the third season was split in half, with around six months passing between the first and second halves.
Though the gap between seasons three and four was not as great as the four years that separated seasons one and two, the divided third season only helped to lengthen the time it would take to build up to the series’ eventual conclusion. Attack on Titan began filming its supposedly final season in December of 2020, with MAPPA taking over directing duties from Wit Studio. Some fans of the comic books from which the show was adapted were confused by the season’s seeming length of sixteen episodes, wondering how the show could possibly wrap up all of the remaining story elements in that time frame. Following the end of those 16 episodes, MAPPA announced that the series will continue for the second half of its final season. Listed below are all of the known facts regarding the upcoming Attack on Titan’s fourth season second half.
How soon will the second half of Season 4 be available?
On March 28, 2021, the day before the completion of the first half of the fourth season of Attack on Titan (also known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin), the official Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) Twitter account announced that the series will continue broadcasting in the winter of 2022. Despite the fact that anime episodes are often produced on a predictable seasonal schedule, this winter’s timetable is ultimately up in the air in regards to Attack on Titan.
Most of the shows that will be presented during the next winter 2021 anime season debuted between January 6th and January 13th. Since then, fresh episodes of the shows have premiered every week. If Attack on Titan maintains its present timetable, then the next episode should air in January 2022. That being said, the launch of Attack on Titan episode 1 of season 4 was a bit of a dark horse because it didn’t follow the typical anime season schedule. The episode actually broadcast in December, far before the start of the winter 2021 season, making it something of an oddity. Assuming the next batch of episodes follows suit, we may see the show return as soon as December 2021.
In Part 2 of Season 4, what can we expect to happen?
When Attack on Titan returns, it seems likely that Eren Yeager, the show’s protagonist, will be the main focus. In season 4, when Eren first appeared, he launched an attack on the nation of Marley, killing many civilians (the existence of which was only just revealed to viewers in the season 3 finale, and promptly became the focus of the season 4 premiere).
After that, our once-admired protagonist Eren seemed to have alienated himself from everyone.
Afterwards, in the last two episodes of the first half of season 4, it was revealed that Eren was supposedly collaborating with his monster half-brother Zeke on a conspiracy to sterilise every Eldian in order to alleviate the pain endured by those with titan powers and those without. The already sombre tone of the series deepened. Speculation amongst fans has claimed that Eren was just appearing to participate in Zeke’s sterilisation plot because he had his own plan to alleviate human and titan-human pain.
Due to the fact that up until season 4, Eren was portrayed in a sympathetic light, his redemption arc is likely to be featured at the end of the season. Before the end of Attack on Titan, either Eren or another individual untainted by the slaughter of innocents should resolve the dispute between the country of Marley and the series’ recurrent Eldian protagonists.

Is there a trailer for the second half of Season 4 of Attack on Titan?
MAPPA announced the release of Attack on Titan’s fourth season, part 2, in the winter, and accompanied the announcement with a brief trailer for the series return. The teaser runs for about 15 seconds, hardly enough time to indicate the show’s return date. In this initial look at the show’s comeback, we learn only that the second half of the season will soon be accessible and when to expect it to run. Regardless, the trailer contains some live-action clips.
The teaser opens with a woman who appears to be drowning; the scene then cuts to the same woman, this time dressed dowdily, standing in front of a group of accusing individuals who are making accusatory gestures at her. The next time we see her, she’s underwater with a glowing spine behind her. Since she hasn’t appeared in the present, she is assumed to be an Eldian whose true identity remains a mystery. After a montage of small sequences from Attack on Titan canon, the teaser ends with a shot of what appears to be Eren facing a brilliant tree. This may be an analogy for Eren’s role in the final few episodes as the Founding Titan, who has the ability to sway all other titans.
