Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase have joined the cast of an R.L. Stine adaptation, which is undoubtedly the most stunning news of the day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two SNL veterans will make cameo appearances in the forthcoming zombie comedy Zombie Town. A “mystery teen romance” is how the movie is being pitched. Stine, a legend in the field of children’s horror, based his 2012 novel of the same name, Zombie Town. Mike, a 12-year-old protagonist, and his friend travel to see the movie Zombie Town. These two youngsters, however, receive more than they bargained for when the zombies from the movie break out of the screen and into real life, turning their peaceful village into a war zone.
Aykroyd and Chase’s responsibilities, including their scope, are being kept secret at this time. Surprisingly, with this group, Zombie Town is poised to become a landmark in the history of humour. Before this, the last time Aykroyd and Chase shared the screen was in the dark comedy Nothing But Trouble (1991). Both of them were part of SNL’s initial cast and went on to have enormously successful careers after the show’s debut. Aykroyd has starred in and written for several classic comedy, including Ghostbusters and The Blues Brothers. As well to his role as Abed on Community, Chase is well-known for his roles in comedies such as Caddyshack and the National Lampoon’s Vacation films. Marlon Kazadi and Madi Monroe, who portray the lead kids in Zombie Town, are presently filming their scenes in Ontario.
Henry Czerny, who starred in Ready or Not, as well as Kids in the Hall’s Thompson and Bruce McCulloch, will also be in the film. Peter Lepeniotis, who previously directed The Nut Job, is in charge of Zombie Town. Stine’s novel was adapted for the screen by Jason Bourque, Lepeniotis, Michael Samonek, Michael Schwartz, and Dean Wilkinson. Trimuse Entertainment, Toonz Media Group, Lookout Entertainment, and Viva Pictures are producing Zombie Town. Kim Coates is also involved as an executive producer. Despite the lack of a firm release date, it has been confirmed that Zombie Town will have its theatrical debut in the United States before hitting Hulu.
Synopsis
There was a time when this place was peaceful and pleasant. However, that was before the zombie outbreak. Mike and his companion Karen, both twelve years old, travel to watch the horror film Zombie Town. Neither of them anticipates that the undead from the film will jump out of the screen and follow them through the cinema. These ravenous beasts aren’t interested in munching on popcorn, but rather, human brains. Mike and Karen must now race through the terrified streets of their neighbourhood in an effort to get away from the shambling bands of zombies before they transform everyone into a hungry flesh-eater. Mike may believe he is secure after he reaches his home and alerts his parents, but he should reconsider. No one can be sure of their safety when the zombies decide it’s time for food. R.L. Stine’s Zombie Town is a deliciously scary take on the horror genre that is slowly but surely invading the globe.
