Reportedly replacing Skylan Brooks as a lead in the Suretone Pictures-Lionsgate horror picture Creepers is Unbelievable actor Shane Paul McGhie. According to Deadline, McGhie will be playing a key role in the titular Creeper organisation. He’ll be playing Vernon, the group’s fourth Creeper, a witty tech nerd who secretly has emotions for Francesca Reale’s character, Cora (Stranger Things). The novel that inspired the film was written by David Morrell, who also penned the novel that inspired the Sylvester Stallone-starring Rambo series, First Blood, published in 1972. For the film’s narrative, a gang of adventurers will break into a run-down, abandoned hotel and investigate its mysterious circumstances.
Despite their initial assumption that the building was deserted, they quickly discover that two rival groups of urban explorers are also searching for a famous hidden treasure within the structure and that a ghostly presence is tormenting everyone. McGhie co-starred as a regular with Toni Collette, Kaitlyn Dever, and Merritt Wever in the Netflix limited series Unbelievable, for which the actor was nominated for four Emmys.
You may also know him from the Paramount comedy What Men Want, in which he again plays the role of Landon based on the novels of the same name by Anna Todd. Charlie Day, star of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will make his directorial debut with the forthcoming comedy movie El Tonto, in which he also acts. Marc Klasfeld, known for his work with musicians like Katy Perry, Slipknot, Jay-Z, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Britney Spears, and Twenty-One Pilots among many others, makes his directorial debut with the feature film Creepers. Jake Manley (Midway, Holidate), Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Laurence O’Faurain (Game of Thrones, Vikings), Nicholas Hamilton (It), Javier Botet (It), and Kai Caster (It) are among the actors set to appear in the film with McGhie (American Horror Story).
Executive Producer/Chairman of Suretone Pictures Jordan Schur is also the film’s executive producer, and his company is partnering with Lionsgate to bankroll the production. The release date for Creepers has yet to be determined, although filming has begun in Bulgaria.
