Secret Headquarters, a Paramount+ original film, has reportedly broken a streaming service record. The film, in which Wilson stars, has been declared the most-viewed original movie on the streaming service within the first week after its debut. The picture, which featured mostly young actors, was commended by Paramount Streaming’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Domenic DiMeglio, in a statement. According to DiMeglio, “Secret Headquarters” broke the record for the most viewers for an original movie in its first week of availability on Paramount+, making it a “must-watch” summer family entertainment.
“We couldn’t be happier that people are enjoying this exciting journey.” In addition to Jessie Mueller and Walker Scobell (The Adam Project), the summer blockbuster also features Jesse Williams (Take Me Out), Keith L. Williams (Good Boys), Momona Tamada (The Baby-Sitters Club), Michael Pea (NARCOS: Mexico), Abby James Witherspoon (Hot Pursuit), Kezii Curtis (Charm City Kings), and Jessie Mueller (Waitress). The plot of Secret Headquarters centres on Charlie and his pals, who unearth the headquarters of the world’s most powerful superhero beneath Charlie’s house. They have to work together to protect the headquarters and preserve the planet from the criminals that assault it.
After Charlie’s father goes on a mission, Charlie and his pals start poking around the home, eventually finding his dad’s hidden hideout. Wilson’s costume evokes “Iron Man,” and his hidden hideout might be mistaken for the Batcave from the Batman franchise. Kids are naturally curious, so it doesn’t take long until they’re fighting baddies to protect the secret lair. The film’s success might have been achieved in part by hiring a dynamic youthful ensemble and by making both subtle and not-so-subtle allusions to prior successful superhero movies. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who helmed Paranormal Activity 3 and 4, Nerve, and Power for Netflix, also collaborated on Secret Headquarters.
The script was written by Christopher Yost (Star Wars Rebels) and Josh Koenigsberg (High Fidelity) in addition to Joost and Schulman. Scott Lumpkin and Orlee-Rose Strauss served as the film’s executive producers with Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman. Paramount+ subscribers in the United States and Canada are the first to watch Secret Headquarters, and the service will roll out to more countries later this year.
